Chris Ferre was born in L’Habana – Cuba in 1975 and at the age of 6, he attended the “culture’s houses” (casas de la cultura) where he learned how to play guitar. He also participated in some theater and tv activities but he left this possible career in favor of music. At the age of 9 he joins music school. He will get his degree in trumpet (middle level) at the conservatory “Amadeo Roldán” of L’Habana in 1994.
Long before his graduation, at 16 years old he was already playing as “firs trumpet” in professional and world-wide renowed conjuntos and sonoras of the country and with Los 10 de la Salsa, band which began as El Médico de la Salsa y su Grupo, who was it singer and director. At 17 he joined Septeto La Tradición, a seven-people band which played traditional cuban music (and was owned by Gaviota S.A.) in which he started to conduct within a few months of joining, playing in all the most important hotels of L’Habana.
During those years he also collaborated with different professional orchestras such as the group of Valentín (ex singer of Revé), the group of Xiomara Laugart (acclaimed singer of “baladas” who emigrated to United States) and is invited to play as “first trumpet” in some José Luís Cortes’ (El Tosco) projects such as “La Mulatas del Fuego”.
At 19 he joined Manolito y su Trabuco orchestra, which at those times had just recordered its first album and was starting in L’Habana.
He stayed in the orchestra for 10 years, recording all its following albums until 2007 as first trumpet, influencing positively in its sound and giving the brass an unrepeatable timbre.
He has travelled for years throughout Europe, Asia and Latin America for festivals and presentations.
Lately he has distinguished himself by playing trumpet, and trombone, instrument for which he acquired knowledge playing live with Trabuco, thanks to the help of the other trombone’s players and the director, and he has made a thorough study of it due to his natural physical conditions.
Besides his classical studies in which he graduated and devoted to cuban music, he loves to experiment through other genres such as jazz, as a musician, composer and arranger, due to the inspiration he received from his friend Miguel de Armas (Pan con Salsa), famous cuban pianist.
Known as a musician of greatest quality and professionalism, he’s recorded with striking producers and musicians of the great Cuban elite. He demonstrates his great skills and experience in live performances and in recording. Even if at the moment we can’t establish how many albums he recorded, we will mention some of them. Among his recordings we find Manolito y su Trabuco’s albums and productions:
Reconocido como músico de calidad y profesionalidad, destacandose en las secciones de cuerdas, con una sonoridad particular, ha grabado con distintos productores y músicos de la gran elite de Cuba y presenta una vasta experiencia tanto en vivo como en grabaciones. Aunque no podemos establecer la cantidad de Cds grabados por falta de informacion, si pondremos algunos de ellos en los cuales ha participado y hemos podido rescatar. Entre sus grabaciones se encuentran los albums del Trabuco y producciones hasta el 2007:Actualmente se dedica a tocar y grabar con sus dos instrumentos en estudios profesionales cada vez que lo solicitan, al igual que ejerce una fuerte presión y sonoridad en vivo como “primer trompeta” y a su vez colabora apoyando en la armonía y sonoridad de los trombones según las inquietudes de cada arreglista.Desde agosto del 2007 después de alternar y tocar en el Festival de Milano junto a Oscar de León , el Grupo Bacilos y Yuri Buenaventura de Colombia por los cuales fue invitado, DECIDIÓ SEGUIR SU CARRERA COMO SOLISTA INDEPENDIENTE A DISPOSICIÓN DE NUEVOS CONTRATOS PARA ABRIR NUEVOS HORIZONTES Y AMPLIAR SU CARRERA ARTISTICA.> ALGUNOS CDs GRABADOS Caridad Hierrezuelo – Como Yo Quería (Egrem, 2000)

THE LEVEL OF TALENT THAT ONE HAS DOESN’T MATTER AS LONG AS ONE HAS THE DESIRE TO EXPRESS THEIR FEELINGS : MUSIC IS A PATH TO ONES SOUL!!ART IN GENERAL IS BEAUTIFUL, BUT HOW DISTASTEFUL IT IS WHEN WE BECOME INVOLVED IN IT OR INTERPRET IT WITH THE SOLE DESIRE OF GREED, ENVY, OR COMPETITIION. REMEMBER THAT BEFORE BEING RIGHTEOUS WE SHOULD BE HUMANE….MY UTMOST RESPECT TO ALL THOSE THAT LOVE THE LANGUAGE OF MUSIC AND FEEL IT NECESSARY TO COMMUNICATE IT AY ANY LEVEL WITHOUT TABOOS…THOSE THAT TRULY LOVE WHAT THEY DO, KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT!!
