About Me

Born and raised in Montana, Allen Vizzutti quickly became a master of the trumpet by learning from his father (a self-taught musician). Vizzutti won the concerto competition at age 16 and was awarded first chair in the World Youth Symphony Orchestra at Interlochen, Michigan. He earned a B.A., M.M. and a Performer's Certificate from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. Vizzutti has become one of the most famed trumpeters of the 21st century known for his astonishing technique.
While living in Los Angeles, he performed on more than 100 motion picture soundtracks, such as: Back to the Future, Star Trek, The Black Stallion, Rocky II, Poltergeist II, Fire Fox, Sudden Impact, 10, Under the Cherry Moon, Broadcast News, The Electric Horseman, 1941 and Revenge of the Nerds.
Vizzutti composed many orchestra works which led to world premiers by the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Phoenix Symphony, Rochester Philharmonic and the Tonight Show Orchestra (won "Best Big Band Recording" Grammy in 1986), as well as recorded works by the Royal Philharmonic of London, the Woody Herman Band, the Summit Brass and the London Symphony Orchestra. One of his most famed pieces, "The Carnival of Venus", a variation on "The Carnival of Venice", is regarded as one of the most difficult trumpet pieces ever written due to range demands and technical demands.
Vizzutti currently lives in Seattle where he works as an Artist in Residence Trumpet professor at the University of Washington while continuing to travel the country and the world as a solo artist.
