Gabriele Pistilli started to play alto sax since 1988 and after some years soprano and tenor, baritone, clarinet and flute too.
Soon he began to play various musical styles, joining pop, funk and fusion bands. In the same time Gabriele carried out academical studies settled first on 2003 with a graduation on sax care of Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia in Rome and successively on 2006 with a 2nd level academic graduation on sax care of Conservatorio di Perugia.
He vastly improved his musical skills with Masters like Gianni Oddi and then with Mario Raja in Perugia.
He was an active member into Saint Louis Big Band (in Rome) conducted by master Gianni Oddi since 2003 to 2006. With this orchestra he performed in important musical events like Jazz Image at Villa Celimontana (Rome) Alatri Jazz Festival , Fondi Jazz Festival, Ciampino Jazz Festival with soloists as Rosario Giuliani, Felice Reggio, Claudio Corvini, Susanna Stivali, Paolo Recchia among the others.
He's been performing in various sax quintet and quartet as soprano or tenor player in performances like "Isole" organized by Perugia province and "Festival Delle Nazioni" which takes place onyearly basis at Città Di Castello (Perugia).
On July 2006 he worked as Master Mario Raja's assistant at Siena Jazz seminary.
He's also a member into All Music Big Band conducted by Master Roberto Coltellacci since April 2007. With this orchestra he performed in important musical events like "Jazz Image at Villa Celimontana" (Rome), "Notte Bianca" at Spoleto, Auditorium Parco Della Musica (Rome), Alexanderplatz (Rome), Be Bop jazz club.
On January 2008 he performed and finally became official player for the Philarmonic Orchestra of Rome.
He usually gives concert-lectures in public school as tenor or alto/soprano with “Sax And The City” sax quarter, in order to promote and introduce this instrument.
He teaches sax, flute, clarinet and music propaedeutics at some roman music school.
