Dr Detroit began as a side project for legendary Melbourne/Adelaide funk band PORNLAND. Now that PORNLAND has retired their flares, afro's and porn moustaches, Dr Detroit steps up to the plate with the type of energy and spontaneity that only seasoned performers who have played together for over 8 years can accomplish.
Dr Detroit perform a range of classics in styles incorporating classic soul anthems, smooth jazz, dance floor filling Blaxpoitation funk, vintage psychedelia, car chase soundtracks, pocket rock, disco madness, atmospheric lounge, 80s pop bliss, and then some…
Producing a tasty blend of charismatic showmanship and finely honed musicianship, Dr Detroit present a rhythm section second to none, flawless vocals, engaging improvisation, and a dynamic rapport with the audience that is always entertaining and memorable.
Dr Detroit has performed since 2002 at a diverse range of venues including The Vineyard, The Belgian Beer Café, The Rainbow, The Espy, Manchester Lane, Purple Emerald, Big Mouth, The Apartment, The Criterion, The Elsternwick, The Terminus, The Nightcat and many more.
Dr Detroit is also renowned for hosting guest musicians from bands such as The Whitlams, The Cat Empire, The Badloves, Something for Kate and The Little River Band.
