Catherine Lambert is a master performer who is able to cater to a diverse range of musical tastes. She is equally at home crooning a sultry jazz ballad, belting out a show tune or delivering a classic rock ‘n roll song. Captivating audiences of musical theatre and comedy are other areas where Catherine shines, her various acting experiences ranging from stage to television commercials to international film sets. But whatever the circumstance, all her performances come with her own inimitable stamp.
Catherine has a wide and varied career in the Australian entertainment industry having performed at many major Arts and Music Festivals throughout Australia and appearing in many of Australia’s premier venues, including'The Basement', 'The Real Ale Café' and the Sydney Opera House.
She has been featured on stage in numerous singing and acting roles, with major highlights being a ground-breaking and critically acclaimed performance with the Australian Dance Theatre when she performed Ella Fitzgerald classics live on stage while ADT Dancers presented choreography designed by Leigh Warren, and also in the role of the Narrator in a sell-out season of “Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dream Coatâ€.
Catherine is a well known voice and face in South Australian media having been a regular weekly presenter on Channel Nine’s “Adelaide Today†with her segment “Entertainment Adelaide†and as a breakfast radio announcer on KAFM.
In Australia, Catherine has performed with some of the country’s greats: Tommy Emmanuel, Don Burrows, James Morrison and in the early 90’s Catherine toured Australia as the support act for BB King, Dianne Reeves and the Phillip Morris Super band.
In 1997 Catherine won the highly acclaimed “Australian Song Writers Association†song writing competition (among the judges was Mushroom Records head Michael Gudinski) against nearly 500 entries. Her song -“The Thrill of the Race†- was launched and performed live by her at the internationally acknowledged Melbourne Cup horse race in 1997.
Catherine has appeared on major Australian variety TV shows including Good Morning Australia with Bert Newton, The Midday Show and Hey Hey It’s Saturday, as well as being featured on nationally aired television commercials (Cadbury Favourites, West End Export, KFC, Davroe Hair Care, Office Furniture Plus).
In May of 2001 Catherine sang a full season of Jazz at the very exclusive'New York Bar' in the Park Hyatt, Tokyo where she was discovered by Sofia Coppola (writer/film director “Virgin Suicidesâ€, “Marie Antoinetteâ€) and invited to play the singer/character part in Sofia’s second feature film “Lost in Translation†starring Bill Murray and Scarlett Johanssen. “Lost In Translation†was shot on location in Tokyo in October 2002 and was released to rave reviews all over the globe, picking up three Golden Globes, two BAFTAS and one Academy award.
In March of 2003 Catherine was invited to perform a supporting actress role in the film “Peaches†starring Hugo Weaving and Jacqueline McKenzie. Directed by Craig Monahan (â€The Interviewâ€, “The Bankâ€), “Peaches†was released in June 2005 to critical acclaim.
In 2005, Catherine recorded her sensational Album “Back in the Swingâ€. Containing fourteen sparkling songs including seven written by Catherine and three as performed in the Academy award winning movie “Lost In Translation†this album was inspired largely by her experiences with the multi award winning film. Highlight Events – 2006
February 2006: Catherine played the WAU Perth International Arts Festival 2006 returning home triumphant after a sold out performance exclusive to the very popular “the Beck’s Verandah†venue.
September 2006: Catherine performed for the Australian Consul General and VIP guests at the Grand Hyatt in Los Angeles and in the LA Jazz Club scene where she will be returning - by popular demand! - in March and July 2007.
