About Me

Growing up in an Australian country town where the weekly Pentecostal church services would rattle the windows, Andy Seymour took to music very early with an obsession for drums. With only one TV channel to watch as a boy, he soon turned his attention to the radio as a means to escape. This, along with his Gospel upbringing formed an eclectic passion for just about anything that's musical. At age twelve, he started his professional music career and by age 15, was working four nights a week, all while juggling high school. Soon however, the passion to sing took over and he stepped out from behind the kit. Blessed with powerful Baritone pipes, Andy creates a big sound that compliments his big stature. Ever the consummate showman, his diverse passion for music makes him as versatile as the songs he delivers. Not one to accept "Musical boundaries", he's a little bit "Singer/songwriter" and a whole lot of Rock, Country, Blues & Rockabilly. -And there's no half measures in his on-stage delivery. He still plays drums, -only now it's front & centre as he stands & sings while laying down those driving rhythms. That's what makes him so unique. Andy is the voice behind “Chilli Hi-Fly’s” worldwide 1 dance hit, “Is it love?”(2000), he completed a national tour for Australia Post to promote their "Legends of Rock" stamp launch, he's performed for HRH Prince Edward's Royal Command Performance, and toured with his Mayor for Sister City tours. Never one to sit still, he's currently playing the lead role in a theatrical touring show, “The Gospel according to Elvis” -a powerful & moving look at Elvis’ Gospel music influences. This show enjoys a busy schedule of sellout houses wherever it plays. Ultimately, it's Andy's love of 'Roots music' - that drivin' old school groove in Country, Cowboy Jazz, Swingin' Rockabilly and Blues that keeps his fires burning inside. Andy's television & film roles are numerous also. He has hosted various TV shows, featured in a 2-year TV series and had minor roles in several films. He has his own TV show currently as a singing chef, which in Andy's words is, "About as much fun as you can have on TV, -croonin' toons and eatin' great food".- "As musicians, artists & performers, we have a duty to share our gifts with the world. It’s what we’re here for, so have fun doin' it". Go to www.zoomoozik.com for more!

Influences: My influences are diverse. I grew up listening to all manner of music coming out of a small, country town radio station. Country, Gospel,Blues and everything in between. It's Roots music, and it's how it all started. -Listening to Johnny Cash sing with conviction, the honesty of Hank Williams, or Brook Benton singin' about that Georgia rain. -How can you not be moved with hearing a man’s heartbroken cry in a tale of lost love. Listening to Elvis sing a Gospel song from the heart is special, as is a soulful Johnny Ace delivery. The first time I heard Tony Joe White's swampin' groove, it stopped me in my tracks, while guy's like Link Wray put the attitude into Roots & Rockabilly music. I also appreciate fine musicianship, -it doesn’t matter what the instrument is, if they’re playing from their heart, the passion's gonna shine through. Listen to Chet Atkins speak through his strings, or play some Danny Gatton. That's what I'm talking about.
