"Now That I am Real" OUT NOW!!

About Me

"Jazz has always been a part of my life. I have had this passion passed on to me from my father, Mike Gilby who worked professionally as a jazz trumpet player and arranger for over 40 years. His influence has played a huge part and continues to do so"
"I have just released my debut album "Now That I am Real"
"The title reflects a particular stage in my life and my music at the moment"

Zoë is an accomplished young jazz vocalist who has performed at prominent venues, including Ronnie Scott’s and at international jazz festivals in Cork, Derry, Newcastle and Glasgow.
In 2007 she recorded her debut album ‘Now That I Am Real’, which is available from iTunes and www.zoegilby.co.uk. In 2008 she recorded a DVD. Her music has been aired on radio stations all over the world: in the UK, the USA, Australia, France, Spain and Belgium. Courtney Pine played Zoë’s recording of ‘West Coast Blues’ on his BBC Radio 2 show.
Zoë has performed with some of the UK and Ireland’s best regarded jazz musicians, including Louis Stewart, Gay McIntyre, Mike Carton, Tony Faulkner, Russell Van Den Berg, Lewis Watson and James Pearson
Growing up in a house bursting with jazz, Zoë has always been passionate about music.
"I was brought up on listening to jazz. I love to listen to great singers and musicians and by doing so I have learnt so much about myself and music. It plays a huge part in what my style is about"
She was inspired to become the vocalist she is today after training at Fionna Duncan’s Jazz Workshop.
"The workshop gave me the key to the door I had always wanted to open"
"Deserves wider recognition and a major record deal. An excellent CD." Courtney Pine BBC Radio 2
"Sparkling debut by an exuberant singer whose lively personality comes across on every track. Sheer enjoyment throughout."
