About Me

Yaron Elyashiv - Short Bio
For a long time Modern Jazz has been misrepresented to the public as music for musicians. With a fresh sound and a different approach to Jazz than his contemporaries, saxophone player and composer Yaron Elyashiv stays true to traditions as he keeps looking forward into the future.
After only 2 years in New York, Yaron has already been making a name for himself leading his groups at the legendary Minton's Playhouse, Saint Nick's Pub, Fat Cat, Jules Bistro, SAPA, Billie's Black, Break, Brama, Il Bastardo, The Greenwich Village Bistro as well as The CUNY Jazz Festival. He has played as a leader and a sideman with great musicians such as Kengo Nakamura, Andrei Ryabov, Ruslan Khain, Tommy James, Bertha Hope, Valery Ponomarev, Satoshi Inoue, Myrna Lake, Daniela Shaechter, Dmitri Kolesnik, Jacob Melchoir, Janice Freedman, Misha Tsiganov, Phil Stewart, Ari Roland, Sacha Perry, Noah Haidu, Will Terril and Richard Clements.
In 2007, he was invited to play on veteran Jazz singer Myrna Lake's latest album. Just a few months later, Yaron went into the studio again to record his debut album as a leader titled “I Remember You” for the Jazzing Music label. The album was recorded in memory of his loving mother who passed away in December 2005. I Remember You features Andrei Ryabov on guitar, Ruslan Khain on bass, Phil Stewart on drums and Taeko Ota on vocals in a selection of original compositions and arrangements of standards.
The album has been featured on South Florida's premiere Jazz radio station WDNA, Israel’s national public radio station 88FM, and performed live at the WBGO 88.3FM studios in New Jersey. Critics are full of praise, as Edward Blanco of eJazzNews writes "I Remember You is a sparkling musical statement... his performance on the sax is outstanding." Dan Karcher of WBGO radio station says "Yaron is a wonderful saxophonist, a part of the next generation of Jazz."
