Hitomi Nozawa, Singer (Soprano) A native of Shizuoka, Japan, her musical influence began with her parents. At age of 4 she was shocked by a musical theatre show and decides to become an artist. She began taking piano, voice and modern ballet lessons over years with several teachers in her early age, and studied vocal performance at Hamamatsu Gakugei High School and Showa Music University in Kanagawa as well as the various basic studies in mainly western classical music and she continued her studies in a college in the U.S. where she had her musical works on many opera and concerts and has completed her music degree in voice in 2006.Hitomi moved to NYC and made her operatic debut in the American premiere of Kurofune at Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center in 2006. She had performed as an opera singer regularly in a theatrical show, Akim Funk Buddha: Urban Tea Ceremony at different venues such as Lincoln Center Outdoor, La MaMa Theatre, BAM Cafe, Joe’s Pub, and more. http://www.funkbuddha.org/ She has been also singing with NYC baced brazillian musicians with her love for Brazilian music and culture in NYC.Hitomi also continues her career as a theatrical dancer, and she currently performs in Shir Dance Theatre Company of New York http://shirdance.com/, and Linda Diamond Dance Company http://www.wildfrogstudio.com/lindadiamond.html. As a part of the companies, she had performed among other great artists and performers at such events as the International conference for women taking place in the Hilton hotel, NYC, Tribeca film festival..etc. She also had contributed as an artistic director/ singer/ dancer to a Broadway-styled show group, Urban Hot Feet which performed at KV Open Center, and The Mean Fiddler in 2007 in NYC. Hitomi's afro-fusion dance performance also appears in a music video by an extraordinary afrobeat singer/dancer, Wunmi: "Keep On Rocking". Hitomi is also involved in Taiko drumming troups as a performer: Ryusei-gumi (Tenryu, Shizuoka), Taiko Masala (NYC, NY).
