About Me

Pianist & Composer Hitoshi Kanda is a native of Nagoya, Japan;
He began his classical piano studies at the age of four. In January 2002, he entered Berklee College of Music. He studied jazz music under Ray Santisi, Frank Carlberg, Laszlo Gardony and many others. He graduated "Summa Cum Laude" from Berklee in Performance Major in 2004.
He moved to New York after graduating from Berklee. In 2005, he participated in recording as the member of "Nobuki Takamen Group" (Bull’s Blues: What’s New Records in 2006) and then has been touring Japan in July 2006 and October 2007. And also he has performed at the Rochester International Jazz Festival as a pianist of the group in June 2007.
He has participated some recordings, which is “white lilac” of Hide Inaba, PD1140 (own group: music of video installation) in NY, 2006 and “Compilation Album vol.2 color primitivo” (Happiness Records) in Tokyo, 2000. He also has been playing as a keyboardist in "Yaz Band" (Smooth Jazz & Funk) at subway stations in NY from April 2006. On the other hand, he is writing music column of "Meito Jazz Club" in Nagoya, Japan.
