About Me


Guitarist/Composer, Nobuki Takamen was born in 1977 and raised in Hiroshima, Japan. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, he studied with Gene Bertoncini, Sheryl Bailey, Mick Goodrick, Steve Rochinski and Jon Wheatley. He moved to Jersey City, NJ in 2004 and has been performing in the New York and New Jersey area since then.
Nobuki leads his own band, NOBUKI TAKAMEN GROUP which regularly performs at various venues in New York. In addition to regular appearances in the New York area jazz scene, he has performed at jazz festivals including the Rochester International Jazz Festival 2007 and also tours annually throughout Japan.
Nobuki released his first album as a leader, Bull's Blues(WNCJ-2168) from What's New Records. This album features nine of his compositions and has been featured in many publications such as Jazz Life Magazine, Swing Journal and also the internationally renowned magazine for jazz guitar fans, Just Jazz Guitar (issue No. 51, May 2007).
Nobuki endorses Acoustic Image Amplifiers, Raezer's Edge Speaker Cabinets and Yamaha USA.
