About Me
Christian Brewer is an alto saxophonist from London ,England. He started playing clarinet when he was 12 years old ,and attended the Guildhall School of Music as a junour before changing to alto saxophone and studying jazz at Leeds College of music and the Guildhall again. One of his earliest mentors was trumpet player Ian Carr,who put him in contact with players such as Julian joseph and the Mondesir brothers in the workshop band `The London fusion Orchestra'. Christian has gone on to play with some of the leading players on the Uk and International jazz scene,aswell as work as a session musician for various artists such as Paul Weller,Rico rodriguez,the Ragga Twins,Otis Grande... He has played regularly at Ronnie Scotts jazz club in london and other European clubs:the New morning (Paris);the Jamboree (Barcelona);Cava jazz(Terrassa),Cafe Central (madrid)and played in some top international Jazz festivals:Barcelona,Sevilla,Malaga,Ceuta(Spain)Lisbon(Portug al),Turin(Italy),Macau(HongKong) and Monsegu(France). He has worked and recorded with some of the finest musicians on the scene: DamonBrown,Quenton Collins,Martin Shaw(trumpets);,Matt skelton,Seb rochford,Seb deKrom,Winston Clifford(drums);Jim Mullen, Tony Smith(guitars),Marie murphy(vocals),john Donaldson,Robin aspland(pianos);Phil donkin,Mark Hodgson,Larry Bartley(bass) and Stan Sulzman,Alex Garnett(sax's) He has collaberated ,and toured Spain with Chano Dominguez(1989-91) during a 2 year residence in Spain,and performed with Francesco Pose,Antonio Mesa, and Tito alcedo. He has toured with Italian pianist Antonio Ciacca(now programmer the lincoln jazz centre in new york);and has toured the uk with International Japanese Pianist Yutaka Shiina. His 2 cds as a bandleader have been very well recieved at home and abroad.In 2005 his cd `Introducing christian Brewer came 2nd in the International Competition in Granada.His following cd `Seesaw' which features Leon Greening,Phil Donkin,jimHart and Tristan Mailliot also occupied runner up spot in 2006. Christian also plays with Billy Cobbha's guitarist Carl Orr in` Danger funk' which features Dave De Rose and Neville Malcombe. In jan 2008,he recorded an album with the distinguished big band composer John Warren,which featured an impressive all star line-up .
