Rus Pearson was born in Wolverhampton, UK on June 22nd 1981. After graduating from Leeds College of Music in 2003 he received the Joseph Stones Strings Award for Outstanding Perfomance.
He has performed/recorded with Dave Liebman, Marc Ducret, Franck Vigroux Bob Mintzer, Soweto Kinch, The Ballet Boyz, Joanna MacGregor, Ken Vandermark and Ingebrigt HÃ¥ker Flaten.
He currently divides his perfomance schedule between Jazz, Tango and Experimental music.
Current projects include the Anglo-Norwegian Trio The Thin Red Line who have recently signed to Cadence Jazz Records, Ninon Foiret's traditional Argentinian Tango trio Fueye Tango and his own solo double bass and electronics project, iPmon As a composer, Rus writes for his own ensembles and has completed works for The BBC, Channel 4/E4 and for various dance and theatre companies.
Rus is on the faculty of Leeds College of Music where he lectures in performance studies and improvisation.
