Just completed recording and producing her new CD, “Invitation.” 2. Composed music and wrote original book and lyrics for new musical, “Me & Caesar Lee.” 3. Arranged and co-orchestrated for a 24 piece orchestra 19 Gershwin songs comprising the RAI TV/Franco Zeffirelli presentation in Positano, Italy (Shirley) “Verrett Sings Gershwin.” 4. Wrote songs for five commercial recordings three of which have been re-released by Universal and MCA Records including first song recorded by singer Stephanie Mills (“The Wiz”) I Knew It Was Love. 5. Continued songwriting to present, resulting in a large and varied catalog. 6. Studied composition and theory for two years at the Julliard School, studied arranging at City College. 7. Logged hundreds of hours in various recording studios as a producer for her own compositions. 8. Sang and played piano for first professional job in New York City at age nineteen, continuing into 1986. 9. Taught voice and theory throughout her career to a wide variety of well known artists in the fields of theatre, pop, and R & B music. 10. Is frequent producing and music associate of A. Dennis Williams, musical director of the R & B singing group, The O’Jays. AS A CHILD: At age 6 tap danced to Bye Bye Blues on a country schoolhouse stage in Wytheville, Virginia; began classical piano lessons on a cardboard keyboard at age 8 in New Jersey; wrote first piano composition, Jungle Rhapsody, at age 10; wrote first song, both words and music, at age 16. Continues to live on the Upper West Side of Manhattan with her husband of sixteen years, Daniel P. Culleton, and RubyRae, their Zuchon puppy and on occasion, their neice, singer-actress Amanda Holley.
