Jeanne Olsen is a dynamic and emotional vocalist with a broad and varied repertoire that reflects the full range of her life experience. She was born in Washington D.C. and was raised in Africa, the Middle East and Asia. In 1991 she moved to Warsaw, Poland and appeared frequently at local clubs performing folk and classic rock, including a number of performances for the benefit of the Children's Cancer Ward. Between 1995 and 1997 Jeanne performed at a variety of clubs, hotels and private engagements in the Washington D.C. area and moved to San Salvador, El Salvador, in 1997 where she continued to perform for the next four years. While in San Salvador, she recorded and produced her first CD, 'Besame Mucho.' This recording is unique in that it represents the fusion of two cultures and was dedicated to her Salvadoran public in appreciation for their warm support during her stay. Jeanne moved to Bogotá, Colombia in 2001 where she continued her musical career, performing on numerous occasions at clubs, hotels, art galleries and private engagements. She was the closing act in the annual University Jazz Festival at the Jorge Eliecer Gaitán Theater in October of 2002 and was invited to participate in the International Festival of Boleros in Cartagena, Colombia. Jeanne also performed in a benefit concert at the William Shakespeare Theater in Bogotá, to celebrate the International Day of Women. During her two years in Colombia, Jeanne volunteered on a weekly basis to sing and play the guitar at a school for disadvantaged children, where she enriched their lives by sharing her special love of music. At the U.S. Embassy Commemorative Ceremony for the victims of September 11th, Jeanne inspired the American and Colombian community by uniting them in the healing power of song. Jeanne is now living and performing in New Delhi, India and is celebrating a mela of South Asian and Western cultures. Jeanne's musical repertoire has been greatly enriched by her international exposure and her special blend of Spanish Boleros, Brazilian Bossa Novas, French Ballads and traditional jazz standards. Her romantic, sensual nature permeates the atmosphere, evoking a sense of longing and passion, transporting the listener to a timeless place. The simple accompaniment of a piano, guitar or quartet in a candlelight venue is Jeanne's preference. She creates a rare and intimate atmosphere with her smoky, warm contralto voice and an easy, intimate relationship with her audience. Her emotional and vibrant performance lays bare every emotion and touches the hearts of all those who hear her. Her performances are fresh and passionate, and her low, powerful voice has been compared to a vocal caress. Jeanne's music is spontaneous, intense and emotionally genuine.
