About Me

Tommy Morimoto's pursuit of a jazz career led him to New York, where he began to study with some of the living masters. Tom's resume includes studying and performing with jazz greats Hank Jones, Les Paul, Anita ODay, Dave Liebman, Joe Wilder, Bob Cranshaw, Christian McBride, George Coleman, Art Lande, and Barry Harris.
Tommy Morimoto has performed at the Playboy and Monterrey Jazz festivals, Yoshis Jazz Club in Oakland, as well as the illustrious Biltmore Estate in Ashville, NC.
He regularly performs at venues in NYC and abroad. Upcoming shows will be in London, New Jersey, West Virginia, and New York City. In New York, he plays in a big band regularly at Tavern on the Green and The Blue Note, as well as the Rainbow Room.
Tom has also won several honors and awards. In 2001, Down Beat Magazine awarded him as a part of the "Best High School Jazz Trio" and a year later also received the 2002 National Down Beat Award for "Outstanding Jazz Soloist." At eighteen, Tom was selected as one of only five musicians in the nation to attend the newly founded Brubeck Institute in California, along with a full scholarship.
Tommy Morimoto is working hard to gather resources and money for an upcoming album. You can hear his saxophone in the background of Anita O' Day's latest album, Indestructible!
