About Me

During November and December 2006, I composed around 40 melodic fragments while watching the films L'Avventura, L'Eclisse, and Deserto Rosso, all films by Michelangelo Antonioni, featuring Monica Vitti. I had the sound turned off at the time and I imagined that I was writing my own soundtrack for the films.
In early 2007, I expanded those fragments into works for trio. I called Lisa Mezzacappa and Jason Levis, who work in the bass and drum manifesto "duo b" and we dove into the music. They learned the music faster than I did, which speaks highly of their ability to launch into my slippery material with so little prodding on my part...
Since then we have had a few performances, one of which was recorded. I have posted a few tracks from that gig. It's a ROUGH mix of a performance - not ideal - but it gives you an idea of what we're up to. I was unable to load the longer (and more "interesting"?) tracks due to the size of the MP3s. We will be doing some more recording this fall in pursuit of an upcoming CD release. Keep your eyes and ears open and THANKS for dropping by.
