About Me

Thank you for visiting my MySpace Music page! My business card reads: Chuck Darling-Drummer/Vocalist *Performance/Recording*Jingles*Voice-Overs*Vocal Characterizations*. From my musical "beginnings" in American Samoa in 1965 (taking lessons every six-and-a-half weeks from the drummer on a cruise ship) to a professional career as a drummer/vocalist that has spanned the past 35 years, from after-hours clubs in Knoxville, Tennessee to opening for KISS in Mobile, Alabama to paddlewheel dinner cruises in St. Petersburg Beach, Florida... I may not have "done it all", but I've come darned close! After graduating from Florida State University in December 1972, I spent most of 7 years touring the Southeast US in "ELI", a rock show band based out of Tallahassee, FL. In 1980 I relocated to Largo, FL in the Tampa Bay area, where I joined "The After Midnight Band" (rockin' house band at the local Steak & Ale). Starting "Dazzler" in 1987, I played in Tampa area clubs, most notably the well-known "Malio's". My love for the music of the '50s,'60s & '70s led me to join "The Sevilles" in 1994, where I stayed until 1999, opening for such acts as Three Dog Night, The Turtles, Dion, Felix Cavaliere's Rascals, Gary Puckett, the Mamas and the Papas, Blood Sweat & Tears, The Association, The Grassroots, Joey Dee and The Starliters, The Royal Guardsmen, The Commodores, etc. At present as a free-lance drummer/vocalist I play in "The Sassy Brassy Band" (7 piece horn band at Derby Lane Greyhound Racing in St. Petersburg, FL) and in the "Nineveh Project" praise band at Anona United Methodist Church in Largo. In addition, I teach drums at Anona Academy of the Arts, do voice-overs and jingles at local studios (everything from Del Shannon's "Runaway" for a local auto dealer to the "KIA Kidd" for airplay in Georgia), and am involved in numerous studio recording projects. I still reside in Largo, FL with the darlin' Nancy Darling, my lovely and loving wife of almost 22 years, along with the cats... Farkas and Putin! FOLLOWING VIDEOS: 1) Video of "STIR" - 10/28/07... 2) Video of "LIFESONG" (edited) - 9/23/07... 3) Video of "LIFESONG" (complete, no vocals audible at beginning) - 9/23/07... 4) Video of "FARKAS THE FLYING BURMESE"...!
