About Me

If you're interested in seeing my artwork/design work, look through my pics under the Artwork album, or watch the slide show below. All illustrations, layouts, logos, and photos were produced by your's truly. Okay, most of the photos - product photos.
I've just recently made a connection with a really good local photographer, Scott Martin. Some of the most recent photos that I've added to my profile are examples of his work - the ones with the copyright information. Visit his web site @ http://www.samartinphotography.com/
You know, I'm just a regular guy. Simple but complicated. Artistic bordering on Autistic. Creative and opinionated, but open mined too. Serious and sometimes uptight. Some might say I'm annal. Knowledgeable about a lot of things but master of only a few. Somewhat intelligent. I like to consider myself a free thinker. I'm passionate about my loves - my wife Joan, my music, my drums, my work, my dog Moses.
I grew up on the streets of NYC, back and forth, between Harlem and The South Bronx. Started playing drums and percussion at 15 - self taught. My household was very musical, giving me exposure to jazz, salsa, latin jazz, rhythm and blues, soul, and rock.
I've been blessed with two talents and the opportunity to realize them throughout my life. I am both a drummer and a graphic artist. I am one of the few who can say I love my work. I get to enjoy and share my talents on a daily basis. - I am blessed and humbled by that!
As I get older I'm finding that drumming is getting more and more important to me. When I was younger I loved playing the drums but I didn't really know where that came from or where it was in me. Now I know that drumming is in my soul. Actually, I've known and felt that for the past 17 years. I just love playing the drums - period! 35 years of drumming and still going strong!
My disciplines are in Rock, Funk, Fusion, Latin, Country, Big band Swing, and RnB. My absolute favorite music to drum to is Funk and Fusion. I'm currently playing in a Country Rock band - The Eddy Ross Band. check out the web site and the myspace page @

I'm really enjoying myself in this band because the musicians are awesome. I will play pretty much anything as long as the level of musicianship is high. Eddy Ross is a great picker - hell, he can play anything at all, but he sure can do some fine country pickin'. And his brother, Mitch Ross, is a fine bass player. Solid as a freakin' rock. And then we have Gary Kendrick on guitar and keys - and drums (if I ever let him at it). He's a great all-around player and singer.
I just recently started giving drum lessons at a local music shop. This is proving to be a challenge for me. It's forcing me to not only get back into reading charts, but I'm also examining my playing style, my technique, my grip, and working on my rudiments. This is a very humbling experience. I'm learning as I teach. I'm learning about how other's learn, about the different levels of physical and intellectual competence from one student to the next. I'm learning about patience too! :)
I try to live life like there may not be a tomorrow. Not that I blow it all in one night, so to speak, but that I appreciate every day as it comes. I appreciate those who cross my path and leave their mark in my life. I hope and strive to leave a lasting impression on those I come across. I treat others as I would want to be treated. I am human and therefore I am prone to mistakes - I try to learn from them and grow through them.
And lastly, as a good friend of mine said, "If I call you my friend, I love you!"
"Live, Love, Learn."
