There are too many adjectives to describe the diversity of Chino’s acquired professional credentials -- percussionist extraordinaire, pianist, arranger, bandleader, composer, producer, recording engineer, educator and motivational speaker. As one of the most accomplished, respected and sought freelancer on the East Coast he is a legend in the making.In 2005, after 35 years in the business Chino launched his Solo career to worldwide acclaim with the highly anticipated release of his debut album It’s SHOtime. The CD remains on the top playlists, has received countless recognitions and numerous tracks have been selected for Salsa compilations all over the world. “Homenaje Al Bailador†was selected for a soon to be released film, Padre Nuestro, distributed by Cinergy Pictures. His next CD conveniently titled “Doctor Salsa†which he produced in his studio, was released in October 2007 and promises to be a recipe for powerful with its combination of all original tracks arranged by Chino and recorded by New York’s finest musicians.Chino has received countless achievement awards throughout his career but the most memorable was in 2004 when he received a Grammy as a member of the Spanish Harlem Orchestra (Across 110th Street for which he arranged “Te Cantareâ€). However, his work with Grammy and/or Latin Grammy Award winning and/or nominated albums is dictated in his lifetime discography including but not limited to: Tito Puente, Celia Cruz, Ray Barretto, Hector Lavoe, El Gran Combo De Puerto Rico, Tito Nieves; Oscar DeLeon, Tito Rojas, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Victor Manuelle, Jerry Rivera, Ruben Blades, Johnny Pacheco, Louis Ramirez, Adalberto Santiago, Ismael Miranda, Cheo Feliciano, Larry Harlow, Yomo Toro, Luis Perico Ortiz, Domingo Quinones, La India; Marc Anthony, Brenda K. As a respected bandleader, he is often called upon by world-class mainstream Artists.From an outdoor festival in the Bronx, to a social in Brooklyn or at the world famous Lincoln Center, Chino has performed in a broad arena of venues all over the world which also includes the increasingly popular Salsa congresses, Carnegie Hall, Madison Square Garden, Northsea Jazz Festival, Montreal Jazz Festival, the Tito Puente Amphitheatre and Bellas Arte Performing Arts Center in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Newport Jazz Festival, Newport News, Trump Plaza Casino, Playboy Jazz Festival, Major League Baseball Events, and countless others.Chino has also engaged in numerous Broadway shows including Evita, The Cape Man and Lion King. He has done countless television and radio voiceovers, made an abundance of videos, had a cameo role with Adalberto Santiago & His Orchestra in the major motion picture Moscow on the Hudson starring Robin Williams and Maria Conchita Alonzo, jingle with Spanish Harlem Orchestra for 1-800-CABLE and recently recorded a commercial for Univision (NYC) with his band Chino Nunez & Friends.In his recording studio, JanMar Productions, he meticulously and methodically composes, arranges and produces the indefatigable, unique and rhythmic swing projects that he is distinctively known for -- Latin jazz, reggaeton, hip hop & R&B rhythms. With hundreds of compositions to his credit, his style is one of the most respected, recognized and sought on the East Coast.Chino passion with inner-city children and support of the Arts through community-based initiatives promotes positive example through music. As an educator and motivational speaker his teachings, known for their simplistic yet thorough lessons, have earned him worldwide recognition. He has facilitated clinics in a variety of sectors including music conservatories, public schools, conferences, conventions and universities, such as Cornell, Long Island, and Villanova. In 2004, Chino embarked with Albert Torres Productions as an instructor for what is now known as the Musicians Seminar and takes place annually at World Salsa Congress in Los Angeles, CA.Chino's endorsements include Latin Percussion, for whom he produced, performed and narrated (2) instructional DVD's entitled The Rhythmic Construction of a Salsa Tune Vol. I. and Vol. II.
