Shiraz, also known as Razzy received his stage name from the red wine and claims like a fine wine, I only get better with age I get smarter, wiser, and better at my craft. Shiraz has a unique and diverse heritage. His mother is a Bahamian of mixed heritage, including Black, Indian and Caucasian. His father is a Caucasian American of Norwegian parents. Learning from his father about the ins and outs of conducting a business, Shiraz realized his calling to be an entrepreneur and was extremely determined to make a name for himself at a young age. At the age of 10, he bought his first DJ set with money he saved for one year. He DJ-ed at local parties and had a thriving DJ business up to the time he left for college to study Liberal Arts and Business Administration at Clarkson University up-state New York.
He continued to DJ at Campus parties, however, he decided to take his music to another level. As a DJ, he was constantly exploring the different avenues of the music industry. Yet, it wasnt till his third year of university that he discovered his talent for writing music and his love for singing. He remembers dreaming about a career in music and recalls, I saw myself on stage performing in some park, I remember it now as if it was yesterday, I took this as a sign because it felt like a calling for me and decided to use my business knowledge to make a career out of it. He created his first demo in his dorm room with the meager equipment that he borrowed from his music professor at university, It was an old windows computer with pro-tools and a little microphone.
In March 2006, during his final year of College he set out for Jamaica in an attempt to pursue his music career. He claims, It was rough when I first got to Jamaica because I didn’t know anyone down there. I searched through the phone directory for studios and record labels, and eventually ended up at a studio. They were not very happy about me coming around, they would slam doors in my face and would literally kick me out of the studio, but I just kept coming back. Today, Shiraz travels back and forth between the U.S, Bahamas and Jamaica creating music and performing. His determination and perseverance has brought Shiraz to where he is today, and claims Ill strive to be the best, and will not give up until I feel this satisfaction.
