You Can Dance To It!

About Me

The Jim Crozier Band is the group of friends that helped me with my current CD project - Down to the Village - that I released on November 16, 2007. It features some of the finest musicians in the North Florida Area. They joined me in my biggest show ever on March 22, 2008, in Tallahassee, Florida at the American Legion Hall on Beautiful Lake Ella. Not only did we do the songs from the CD live, we performed enhanced arrangements on many of the songs because the full Tallahassee Swing Band was sitting behind us. In February I wrote eight brand new big band arrangements especially for this event. All was ready for the big show! It turned out pretty durn fabulous!

The Jim Crozier Band is any band that is playing my stuff. I, Jim Crozier, am a bass player, and so spend most of my gigging hours doing something other than my stuff. Some of my current on-going and generally long term band relationships are:

The tallahassee Swing Band - Big Band playing every Tuesday Nite at the American Legion Hall on Beautiful Lake Ella!

Here is a clip of the first reading of my tune "Nola Swings" that I wrote for the band:
And, Here is a clip from the 2008 Tallahassee Museum - Jazz & Blues Festival, Tallahassee Swing playing the "Jersey Bounce" as captured by Weston Brown and converted and posted by Carl Morse.
=============================
The McKenzie Brothers Band - singer/songwriter Americana - with a newly released CD.

The Jones Brothers Band - mostly blues and Jimi McKenzie's and Jim Crozier's originals. Here you can download an MP3 of the Jones Brothers doing my song: "The Times They Are a Changin', Still!"

Bone Dry - mostly originals from TDGiddings, Jimi McKenzie, Jim Crozier, and mostly our neighborhood garage band - but we have played at 621 Gallery a couple times for "First Friday".

Cats In Orbit - is the core rhythm section of a lot of the bands listed above. Always Jim Crozier and Jimi McKenzie, and we hope Steve Redmond, some times Mariano Rodreguez, or Eddy Bradley on drums; sometimes another guitar player, too, or keys.

Jim's Dixie Jammers - an occasional Dixieland Jazz Band - there are mp3's of a couple tunes from our last concert at jimcrozier.com .

=============================

Some of the other folks I have played with in the past 35 years are:

Pam Laws, Pierce Pettice, Bill Wharton (the Sauce Boss), Jon Copps, Sir Charles Atkins , Tom Creekmore, Steve Mello, Marlin Moore, Bonnie Edwards, Mariano Rodreguez, Scott Scheive, Trenida White, Elliot Toole, Jeff Drawbaugh, Dennis Vail, Michael McKenzie, Charlie Engstrom, Marcus Roberts, Bill Kennedy, Lindsey Sarjeant, Scotty Barnhart, Longineu Parsons, Jimmy Lohman, Nat Adderly, Herb Harris. Alan Heightman, Steffi Tassos

And some of the other bands: Acme Rhythm & Blues, Big Fedora, and Lohman-Crozier Jazz Band (in its many forms).

My first gig with the Wild Blue Yonders in 1976.

Oh, and I did use Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4 to help get me started.

The Jones Brothers - 2004

Influences: Jim Crozier got his first guitar 10 months before the Beatles were on the Ed Sullivan Show. He started playing bass a couple of years later, which got him involved with all different kinds of music and all of the different people that play it: theater, church, symphonic, big band jazz, rock&roll, R&B, blues, country, bebop. Influenced by years as a music student, and a few years living in New York City. Influenced by living in the South. Influenced by growing up in the Wilds of Northwestern Pennsylvania. From the 60's to the 00's, too many influences to acknowledge!

Sounds Like: Labels have always been a problem. I start out with something that might sound like "Canned Heat", followed by what you might hear when the Salsa guys set up in Washington Square Park - sounds like Jamaica (Queens). Then we go to New Orleans with a Cajun Waltz featuring accordian and fiddle, but that song morphs into a Second Line parade. The next cut ain't nothing but the blues, then a country song, an up-tempo blues, and then we have a bluegrass number, followed by some New Orleans Funk, some more up tempo blues, and then a big band swing tune - with a real, live big band! So I really just try to sound like America!

like John Lennon, Bob Dylan, Charles Mingus, Dr John, Canned Heat, Blood Sweat & Tears, The Grateful Dead, Tom Waits, Harry Connick, Jr
