About Me

Trafton Harvey was born in Tallahassee, Florida January 1, 1973. He was the first baby born in Florida in 1973. The name Trafton came from the series "Gunsmoke" which was popular back in the 60's. A character named Trafton came thru Dodge City and gave Matt Dillon a hard time. He made a name for himself as well as a new-born baby whose parents are Sheriff and Mrs. David Harvey. Trafton has resided in the Big Bend Area most of his life. He graduated from Tallahassee Community College and then attended Florida State University. His interest in playing a guitar and singing began at the Lambda Chi house on the campus of Florida State. He formed a three piece band with Dave Roberts and Michael Tilley. By 1992, he had a six piece, full blown country extravaganza which became a huge success in the Tallahassee area. Trafton then got a day job at Citizens Bank in Crawfordville managing one of their branch banks. He continued singing and writing and moved to Nashville in 1996 to continue his musical interests. Trafton managed the West End Branch of Southtrust Bank from 1996 to 1997. He signed with BMG Publishing Company, Cabin 11 Division in April 1998. He was writing with Don Goodman, Jerry Foster, John Greenenbaum, Mike Anthony and other Hall of Fame writers. In late August 1998, Traftons life changed and was put on hold for 7 years. He contracted viral encephalitis which is a viral infection in the brain. He was in a coma at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville for 3 months. At this time, Trafton once again returned to Wakulla County to "grow-up" for the second time. Miraculously, after 7 years, he has returned to the stage and has just released his third CD "On The Side of the Road". This CD was produced by the famous and talented Larry Butler. Trafton, the Come-Back Kid is BACK once again ready to rock and roll!
