[Yay! I Finally Wrote something in the bio section 2/10/08]
So I’m a singer/actor/percussionist I write, compose, and produce - yes make tracks("Yea I got dem beats shawty":) and a ton of other "slashes" - My main tools are Singer and Actor
I am a descendant of Benin City, Nigeria and the other half from the General Atlanta area. I lived in Nigeria for some years back and forth growing up-in fact everywhere I’ve lived has been back and forth and my music reflects as such. From jazz to afrobeat and yes I even dust of my soprano for random classical/opera gigs... I love love love jazz so much so that I did the cliche back your bags and your hundred bucks and fly up NYC with a list of names(seriously, I had no clue where I was going to live!) just to study this music.
Creative gypsy spirit that I am, I must say that I transferred 4 colleges. The longest term was Clark Atlanta University(go HBCU’s) where i studied some hybrid of theater, speech and music(more classical/opera) and I finished at the Brooklyn Campus of Long Island University with a major in Jazz Studies and some kind of Theater minor (it was way more than minor had a gazillion credits in theater). And here I am in NYC...Honestly, much of my work has been for others - singing with their bands or on their gigs...:I’ve also done some NY area theater work. As a result(of the hustle and work), I can pretty much sing any genre(that the check is made out to :) but my heart is jazz. Although these songs on here are all straight. They’re just fun singing over pre-recorded tracks . I’m a bit more contemporary as are most of the young cats that Ive run into on the "scene" here. That’s the stuff I’m working on now (yay!) We have no choice but to be. We grew up with hip hop and soul and super pop and internet and all these things that broaden our musical perceptions. The best thing about being back in the city is meeting all these young ppl doing the music. I’m fired up! Nothing against old people - much respect, but honestly, I dig new approaches and working with like-minded (agemates) theres soooooooo much less to explain!
Right now I’m at an artistic crossroad. I’m writing and composing a lot right now and coupling that with serious studying period with my Lent transition. When I get called, I do gigs, but I have not been actively auditioning or searching for work right now beyond what I’m doing.

Raw/Living Foods
So I am officially a raw Vegan. My reasons for becoming raw were for physical and spiritual cleansing and overall life growth. So far, I’ve lost 50lbs, more spiritually connected, have energy for days, I am in love with life - a hot passionate love affair - with the world. I care about the planet and all, but I use the term vegan as a practical one - not part of the movement. I’m a Revolutionary gurl about many other things(yet another pot of tea).
People ask/tell me all the time how hard it is to ’go raw’ or Whatev and ask for tips. Honestly,If you can make it through the first 3 days, it’s smooth sailing from there. Sure, it was hard becoming raw and I’ve certainly had my cheats here and there(french fries are the worst food in the world according to lil bro O). It’s much harder to be a shell of yourself. It’s much harder to be a ton of potential going nowhere. It’s much harder to be sick, in pain and medicating so much with food and liquor and whatever else you don’ t know how to feel anymore. It’ s much harder to be slowly dying.[Yes...I’m Melodramatic ]
As far as details of the ’diet’ . It’ s pretty extreme to the ’normal’ folks. It’s basically uncooked food. Nuts, Seeds, Fruits, Raw Veggies, sprouted grains - nothing cooked over like 110 degrees or something...
What to I eat?
I eat fruits, nuts, smoothies, veggie juices, salads, nutmeats(get out of that gutter!!)dessert parfaits, yes I make chocolate treats to deal with that craving...also, thanks to living here in NYC there are a few raw conscious stores and restaurants. My fave is Raw Soul in Harlem. It’s like raw soul food. The entire menu is raw some of it is Phenom but it’s trial and error you have to basically order the food to taste it. Whenever I get tired or bored with my menu, I can go there and they have raw pizza, burgers, marinated collard greens, enchiladas, nachos, raw cakes and so on - but that can be costly so I make most of my food and I usually just go like once a week - I have my voice lessons and some rehearsals up that way so it works out!
My goal is to stay 100% until I reach my goals and maintain at a high raw percentage.
Random Info - I dig workging out, love dancing and learning dances of other cultures, take capoeira classes sporadically...seriously, that’s enough for now I’m sleepy...I’ll fill in the rest later!!!
