THE RENNAISANCE AMAZON - INTELLECTUAL ATHLETE, SCIENTIST, DANCER AND ARTIST

About Me

I was born and raised in Harlem Heights (the border of West Harlem and Washington Heights), NYC. My parents are both of African American and Seminole descent. I am very proud of my Black and Red ancestory. The Seminoles are the only tribe that was not overtaken by the US government...we fought to the death. My people are still owed, the red men and women had were raped of their land, identity and culture. The black men and women were ripped from their land, identity and culture and made to work for FREE for hundreds of years. I have family members who faught in the revolutionary war in this country. But like Fredrick Douglass said in his great Fourth of July speech...the Fourth of July is NOT MY HOLIDAY! I could never understand why colored people celebrate it because it has nothing to do with us...slavery didn't end to damn near 100yrs later and after that we endured 100years of a legal caste system. So you won't see me saluting no flags or singing no national anthems. My mother is a well known and respected labor organizer and my dad is a journalist and professor who was heavily involved in the civil rights movement. In case you didn't know...the Black Seminoles were some of the best organizers and fighters. So I guess my warrior spirit runs in my blood. RBG! FOR THE RED WOMAN, BLACK WOMAN AND THE GREEN FERTILE LAND OF OUR MOTHER. I have a B.S. in Exercise and Sports Science w/ a minor in Nutrition and concentration in Strength and Conditioning from the University of Delaware and I completed two years in a M.S. program at Columbia Univeristy in Applied Physiology and Nutrition. I am an ACE certrified Personal Trainer, NSCA certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and USA Weightlifting coach (olympic lifts like power cleans, snatches and jerks). I am currently studying Applied Kinesiology which is a technique that comes from TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine)...it is a way of testing one's energy fields (known as meridians) and balancing them. This helps to keep your immunity and energy up. I am also studying KEMETIC YOGA (from ancient egypt also known as kemet), Shiatsu massage, thai yoga massage and reflexology. At some point I hope to study reiki as well. I am the founder and CEO of a holisitic fitness and nutrition education company called ART + SCIENCE, LLC (EliteArtandScience.com)I am a professional dancer. I dance for a Congolese dance company called FUSHA Dance Company and a Haitian Folklore company called Mikerline Dance Company. Both companies are based out of NY and we perform with live drummers. I was also a dancer on the Reggae Gold 2006 DVD. I choreograph hip hop, salsa, meringue, bachata, cumbia, samba, dancehall/reggae and r&b. I study various dances from the african diaspora including the rumba complex from cuba, bomba from puerto rico, capoeira angola (which is the authentic african shyt)and dunham technique. The DRUM is my favorite instrument. Thus far I have 3 drums. My Haitian Petwo drum, a little Conga drum and a Congolese Engoma drum. I study Haitian and Congolese drumming and I am interested in learning some stuff about Bomba drumming and Afro Cuban drum rhythms.I dabble in modeling...mostly swimsuit and artistic nude. I will be coming out with an all nude calendar on my birthday August, 1st 2007. It will be like nothing that has ever been done before. You will be able to find more info on my two sites: QueenGoddezz.com and EliteArtandScience.comI am also an athlete. I competed in NCAA divistion I track in college. In high school I was a baller (basketball that is) and I fenced. I also dabbled in softball and soccer. Currently, I am training with a tennis coach...so WATCH OUT!
