we are a Hardcore,but conscious hip-hop group whom transformed over the years from speaking death to representing life by attacking and addressing the unresolved issues of our communities which others are afraid to address.We are known to many as Hard2ThaCore which symbolizes our struggle,we were very hard headed,we lived a hardcore lifestyle,and we chose to learn things the hardway.however in the mid-nineties we were enlightened and we chose to stop being hard headed,to stop living so hard and to represent Life. we live forever through our music,loved ones,fans,haters,and those who picked up our torch and continue to run with it(Radio,X-Con,D Capone,Jayrock,and countless others.This group was founded by Sharrieff(Gen.Rugged-Rieff) Martin and Quaseem(Severe Trinity)Dent in 1987 at Avon Avenue school in Newark N.J.Mr Martin was to perform a conscious rap about drugs for a school project.Word was around about another rapper later to be known as Mr.Dent.Everyone was trying to set us up to battle eachother after the performance,but i simply replied to him that I need a partner,and he felt likewise.We shook hands,and join forces,everyday writing together,and later recording many songs together,and performing a few shows together.About seven years later we were introduced to John(Jayrock)Jacobs whom at the time was a missing piece to our puzzle.Mr.Jacobs joined the group and we continued recording,writing,producing,and doing shows.Our motto was Hard to the Core,Hard to The finish!We all was very wild,but talented,and that was during the time there wasn't many rappers in Newark.You had to be talented to be known,but now a days everybody raps,sell drugs,gang bang,or they're a gangsta.We opened up for several Rappers Fat Joe,Ed Og and the bull dogs,Nice and smooth,Naughty by Nature,The Artifacts,Hardware and many more.We were also known as Money and Murder at the time.Money and Murder was a collaboration of different neiborhoods that was either getting money or putting in work.Although we all were crazy,our goal was to stop the voilence in our hoods and give back to the community.We threw cook outs,shows,and supported all who had the same goals.People from all over attended our cook outs.We even promoted shows,and had all the crews who were beefing with eachother come together for a night of peace.Our Motto was either come in peace or leave in pieces! Not many could do that and accomplish the love and respect that we gained from the people.All the things we done we never knew that we had young admirers who would later come out of the cut rapping.Even if we never made it as professional rappers,no one could ever take what we have given the people.Hard2ThaCore is not just a bunch of rappers,but Messengers,Martyrs,Leaders who will continue to create thinking music.People have died for what we are representing.Newark rappers have always been underated to many,or shall I say hated by many.We are like the Dirty South no one respects us,but once the right opportunity present itself" you will respect us!""You will hear our story!"Our quest was put on hold in 1996 with the incarceration of Mr.Martin who was later released in the beginning of 2001,only to return for another 10 months and was released for good in June 2002.While Mr.Martin was incarcerated Mr.Dent,and Mr.Jacobs continued our efforts to pursue a deal,and continued to record,write,and produce excellent music.By the time Mr.Martin was released everyone had other priorities,and mix feelings about continuing what we started.By this time there were up and comming rap artist.Being driven by his love and passion for music Mr.Martin done what Mr.Dent,and Mr.Jacobs done while he was away,and that was to keep it moving,and keep our legacy alive.Many of our members are either locked up,or just doing their own thing.We continue our journey to bring awareness and peace to not just our community,but to the world especially with the continual growth of the gangs in our hoods.Why join forces to kill future,doctors,Lawyers,or teachers who look just like you?Why not join forces for the real enemy,the ones who created our monsterous society. Hard 2 the core is no longer a group,but that spirit still beats in the heart of Mr. Martin as he carries his new movement called the U.B.A. "Universal Builders Association" Why the U.B.A.? the name speaks for itself.Our mission is to build and not let anyone tear down what we build,because of greed,jealousy,malice,hate,religion,or any difference we may have.As long as we can agree on one thing,and focus on one common goal our mission will and it's going to be successful.Stop the genocide!
