I am a World Traveler who has taught Yoga for over 27 years. In 1979 I began a career in Social Work and counseling where i have utilized my extensive knowledge of Yoga, Tai Chi and wholistic health to develop innovative treatment programs for at-risk youth, substance abusers, developmentally disabled persons, the elderly, AIDS patients, teen parents and many others in need.
Currenly, I am the Founder/CEO of Yoga Skills Stress Management and Wellness Consultants.
In my desire to provide others with better tools for understanding Yoga and Meditation, I have orchestrated a three volume set of Instructional Yoga DVDs: "Kemetic Yoga," and "Journey to Amenta," a Meditational CD.
In my journey, I have lectured and written extensively on the African origins of Yoga, stress management, health and wellness for African Americans; African American culture and health; Yoga therapy, meditation and spirituality.
I have taught Yoga and lectured throughout the United States, the Caribbean and in various countries around the world. Recently, I was featured in such publications as Yoga Journal, Yoga Chicago, Whole Life Health.Com, Houston Life, Chicago Parent, Healthy, Ebony Magazine, Chicago Tribune, Natural Living in Chicago as well as various Television and Radio shows around the U.S. including ABC and WGN. I have been recognized nationally for my work with children with disabilities in Easter Seals Headstart programs in Chicago,IL.
As a Lecturer, I have been featured at Whole Life Expo, The National Black Expo, The Festival of Yoga and Music in Havana, Cuba, The African Festival of the Arts, Chicago Museum of Natural History and various conferences and Universities.
Through various organizations I present workshops and provide training to clients and employees of various corporations and public/private social service organizations. I am also the host of my own TV show in Chicago called "Ancient Arts for Modern Living".
In addition to my expertise in Yoga, I am a Social Worker, I have a Bachelors Degree in Political Science and a Masters Degree in Social Service Administration from the University of Chicago.
For the past two years i have been a staff writer for Recovered Magazine (Chicago). Currently, I am a professor of Stress Management and Wellness at DePaul University.
