The ‘Backbeating SoundSystem’ is a DJ collective based in Aberystwyth, Wales. It was formed 4 years ago and since then has organised and participated in more than 200 Reggae, Ska, Dub, Balkan & Gypsy music events.‘Backbeating Sounds’ is a recently formed NON-PROFIT group responsible for the management, promotions and design of our events.
Our main projects at the moment are: the Ska, Reggae & Dub project and the Gypsy, Klezmer & Balkan Beats .
The Ska, Reggae & Dub project is a night with Reggae beats from around the world. It comprises the Old and the New with a selection of vinyl and cd tunes. Relaxing atmosphere with uplifting rhythms vs. conscious melodies and dance.
The Gypsy, Klezmer & Balkan Beats: a fusion of strings, horns and contemporary electronic beats leading to a broad dancehall experience. It takes place in various venues in Aberystwyth. (Club Y-Not, the Aberystwyth Arts Centre, the Angel, the Rugby Club & the Royal Pier) on a regular basis. This event involves live performances from guest artists and bands that play Gypsy, E. European, Balkan & Flamenco music supported by our DJ collective.Appart from the regular dj's, BACKBEATING consider itself an open collaboration of musicians, people who offer technical assistance and all those who over these years contribute voluntarily in any possible way to the whole project.
