It will make you laugh,cry and will lead you through various phases of spiritual ecstasy..." I come from Belgrade-Serbia, currently living in Bristol. Over the last few months, I have been working hard with my friends to dj, promote and establish the unique sound of BRASSnDRUM - it is how I choose to call this music - simply 'coz it's driven by the powerful Brass and Drum sections! It originates from the Balkans - countries of the South Eastern Europe. It's very emotionally rich and just like the rest of the culture, legacy of the Otoman Empire, which had ruled that region for nearly 500 years. On a dance floor, it's quite of an experience where anything goes...In our 'Balkan Express' nights we have live perfomances from the percussionists playing african and turkish drums as well as belly dancers with their own choreography to suit the rhytms that we play. The tunes that we play are not mixed with any electronic sounds, but left in their original, pure form! Lots of fun and smile on your face is guaranteed!Some music you 'hear' with your feet, some with your head, for some you need your heart... For BRASSnDRUM you need all of Your-Self, it's holistic! And unless you've got something else in a place where your Soul is supposed to be, you will like it and dance to it! Apart from powerful Balkan BRASSnDRUM grooves, you are likely to hear anything from the funky beats of drummers from Nile to some classic Gypsy Swing and Klezmer. 'Balkan Express' strives to create the energy which will bring us together, breaking some unnecessary bounderies and making those deeply hidden emotional places from within us accessible and available to share...
