CURRENT PROJECTS:
- IMPROBEAT
Is a project conceived by Matthew Lovett and supported by Newport University: "ImproBeat is music for the head and music for the body. Free improvisation and dance music might seem like they’re from different and mutually exclusive worlds – but all music is for celebrating and coming together. ImproBeat is a free-dance club night where thinking and dancing combine. A live performance featuring Javier Carmona (drums / percussion), Nic Finch (Visuals), Kamil Korolczuk (turntable / live electronics) and Matthew Lovett (computer). ImproBeat combines the dynamism of free improvisation with the energy of dance music, to make music that evolves and pushes forward, creating a new space for listening and moving".
- AKAFREE is a free jazz project started by Chefa Alonso in 2002 in Madrid. Currently formed by Chefa Alonso (Soprano Sax, Compositions), Olie Brice (Bass) and himself on drums. Since it started, Akafree has changed formation a few times, being Chefa Alonso and Javier the only original members of the band. Other members have been: Marcos Monge (Tenor Sax), Juan Jaren (Guitar), Rodrigo Campana (Bass), Jorge Frias (Bass), David Leahy (Bass) and Ashley Wales (Electronics). The first quintet formation relased on 2003 the CD "La Visita de la Salamandra" with Galician record label Xingra .
- LANZA! is the quartet formed by Paulina Owczarek (sax), Jerzy Bielski (mini-moog, theremin, guitar), Kamil Korolczuk (turntables, electronics) and himself on drums. Polispanish improvised electro-acoustic music, formed in London. Lanza! toured Poland in September 2008 and is touring Spain during June 2008.
- Drummer of the Alexander Hawkins Ensemble, a project formed by A. Hawkins (Piano,Compositions, Arrangements), Hannah Marshall ( Cello), Otto Fischer (Guitar), Orphy Robinson (Steel Drum, Percussion) and Dominic Lash (D.Bass).
- Quartet with Hannah Marshall (Cello), Chefa Alonso (Soprano Sax) and Veryan Weston (Piano)
- Recently has played for the recording of Progression 5, a project conceived by Ricardo Tejero that will be performed live by the Progression Quintet, formed by Allison Blunt (Violin), Adrian Northover (Sax) Marcio Mattos (D.Bass) ,Ricardo Tejero (Sax, compositions) and himself on drums.
- Trio Roroja is formed by Roland Ramanan (Trumpet), Roberto Sassi (Guitar) and himself on drums.
- During 2006 starts playing with japanese pianist Tsukiko Amakawa in a duo project with a recent performance during the international festival of improvised music Hurta Cordel, in Madrid.
PERFORMANCE EXPERIENCE:
Starting on the rock side(still goin'): Has played in several bands from Madrid such as Fukc, Pantasma or a brief colaboration with Soul Bisontes. Currently taking walks on the mite rock with Murky (guitar) on the mite rock duo Grimorio .
Often colaborates with guitar player and composer Antonio Luis Guillén, in projects such as the Proyecto Abba , ritual performances of improvised music IN and FOR the Desert of Tabernas(Almeria), Jun y Gor or colaborations with Sefronia .
Turning to Jazz and Free Jazz: With San Francisco Saxophonist and composer Alex Weiss(Gallopinto), as well as colaborations with different musicians of the Spanish jazz scene such as Francisco López (Loque), Carlos Rossi, Jon López de Vicuña, Jorge Frías, Marcos Monge, Rodrigo Campaña, Juan Jarén (the last three, members of first formation of Akafree ), among others.
His colaboration with soprano saxophonist,percussionist and composer Chefa Alonso starts on 2002 (still goin')with the free jazz project Akafree . They also work together as duo and colaborate on different formations of free improvisation.
Member of the Breuss-Arrizabalaga Quintet .
Has also played in projects such as ,Dadajazz among others.
Straight to the free improvisation: Member of spanish improvisers association Musicalibre and its improvisers orchestra F.O.C.O. ,also belongs to the London Improvisers Orchestra and has an intense activity on the Improvisation scene of London, playing with musicians as Ashley Wales, Dave Tucker, Tom Arthurs , Tony Bevan, John Edwards, David Leahy, Roland Ramanan, John Russell, Ian Smith, Orphy Robinson, Ricardo Tejero, Robert Jarvis, Pat Thomas, Marcio Mattos, Nick Stephens, Jean Michel von Schowburg among many others...
