Melodic, epic hard rock with a slightly gothic tinge, Azumuth was started in 2007 by singer/songwriter Aidan Dickens. Having no luck finding the right band members, Aidan decided to go it alone. He single-handedly performed, recorded and produced Azumuth’s self-titled debut, with help on drums from close friend Turin Howell.
After the album was finished, Aidan enlisted the impeccable piano styles of Adam Rieck, the hard hitting finesse of Adem Koci on drums, and the driving tones of Matt Emery on bass.
Azumuth’s sound is very distinctive, with a huge guitar and keyboard sound over a driving rhythm section - all with Aidan’s unique vocals soaring over the top. The songs themselves are about the yin and yang of life: the darkness and the light; falling into shadow and emerging on the other side to let your spirit soar.
Azumuth’s sound has been compared to Evanescence (minus Amy Lee) and Faith no More. Other influences are The Deftones, Metallica, Iron Maiden and Nightwish.
Aidan is currently working on Azumuth’s next album, for which he has in mind a mid-2008 completion.
