It has taken just 10 months for The Glass Ceiling to establish themselves as one of Sydney’s newest and most dynamic indie rock acts, climbing out of obscurity and propelling themselves onto a National stage.
This 5 piece gained exposure on a National level with their recent success in the National Band Competition Tooheys uncharTED where out of over 2000 bands TGC made the Top 2. Due to this impressive result they received extensive coverage on MTV including several live performances and interviews throughout March/April this year.
2008 has proven to be huge for the band already with the band also releasing their debut Single “Relative Needâ€. Since this, TGC have played along side Grinspoon, Evermore, British India, Van She, Old Man River, Lost Valentinos, Avalon Drive, Cassette Kids, Angelas Dish, and also featured at this year's Lawn Party Festival to a 7,500 strong crowd.
TGC formed after founding members James Vandyke, Craig Richmond and Cj Morello spent the better part of two years scouring Sydney for the right vocalist and drummer to complete the line up. Jack Preston (vocals) and Matt Alexander (drums) complete The Glass Ceiling line-up. The band have built a loyal fanbase in under a year with their intense live shows. Initially taking inspiration from late 90’s rock acts, the band have gained more recent comparisons to the British influences that their current song writing trends represent. The band themselves state Bloc Party, The Killers, Muse, Hard Fi and The Cure as major influences.
TGC launch their debut EP in September 2008 followed by both East Coast and West Coast Tours.
