Donika

everyone knows that love is a cancer, everyone knows that death is the answer.

About Me

I've been described as "multivalent," which I'm pretty sure is Latin for "coolest chick ever." I am also a walking calamity, so... that's a minus.

My Interests

Reading, writing, watching movies, socializing/observing, reptiles, language and the use/abuse/evolution of such, arcades, spite for corporate culture, sleeping, waking up late, being late for everything, eating poorly, passive aggression, sewing/cross stitching/upholstery, baking, sandwiches, all things internet, expensive cheeses, ripping off my sister's format for this section, dressing funny, eschewing shopping, eschewing obfuscation, flirting with the dark side, making stuff out of other stuff, failing to keep it real.

I'd like to meet:

People who like calamity. Museum, concert, and live comedy attendees. Poetry, film, and book lovers. In addition to Books, Movies, and Music, these profiles should have an Art category. myspace sucks.

Music:

It all started with Elton John.

Ben Folds, Peter Gabriel, Liz Phair, Rickie Lee Jones, Belle and Sebastian, Wilco, David Bowie, Tom Petty, Weezer, Cake, The Rolling Stones, Ben Kweller, Joe Pisapia, The Beatles, Jethro Tull, CSN & Neil Young, The Cure, The Bodeans, The Black Crowes, R.E.M., The Jayhawks, Steve Forbert, Stevie Wonder, Michael Penn, Simon and Garfunkle & Paul Simon, Dinosaur Jr., Pavement, Gomez, Death Cab for Cutie, Jane's Addiction, Ministry, The Pixies, Beastie Boys, Wheatus, Marcy Playground, Supertramp, Talking Heads, Joni Mitchell, Janis Joplin, David Gray, Pete Yorn, Dave Matthews, The Monkees.

Basically, white girl music.

Movies:

Amelie, Bottle Rocket, Rushmore, Brain Candy, Trainspotting, What's Eating Gilbert Grape?, The Sixth Sense, The Big Lebowski, Short Cuts, Sweet and Lowdown, Unstrung Heroes, Heathers, Spirited Away, A Room with a View, Roman Holiday, Edward Scissorhands, Cane Toads, E.T., Igby Goes Down, Love Actually, The Ice Storm, Happiness, The Aristocrats, How's Your News?, As Good as it Gets, In America, Spellbound, In the Company of Men, The Way of the Gun, City of God, Dr. Strangelove, Mars Attacks

Television:

The usual HBO stuff, The Office (BBC), Arrested Development, and if I'm being honest, Wife Swap (and/or Trading Spouses. I can't tell if these are two shows on different networks, or the same show renamed). My taste in TV is pretty limited because I haven't bothered with cable for a while. I really miss the Daily Show. Is it still good?

Books:

Myspace unceremoniously wiped out my carefully catalogued list of favorite reading, and I'm holding a grudge. Since you're already aimlessly surfing the Internet, though, please read the sites I edit at RudiusMedia.com:

Philadelphia Lawyer Devil Monkey Judd Trichter Paul Levinson Power Seduction and War Hollywood Interrupted The Wreckoning I Can't Believe I'm Still Single

Heroes:

Karen Blixen, Dorothy Parker, Janis Joplin, Robin Quivers.
