Everything that people hate to talk about I think about all the time: Science, politics, religion, history, you name it. If it bored you in High School I probably have researched it for fun. I also like swimming, arts, martial arts, reading, writing, 'rithmatic, video games, kitties. I like using curse words by fucking cracky!
Monkeys with similar interests.
Out of sheer boredom at work I will add some musical favorites:
Bobby Darin (When was he ever a carpenter?), The Doors (I'm drunk, I'm nobody; I'm drunk, I'm famous; I'm drunk, I'm fucking dead), The Who (Looks like we did get fooled again), David Bowie (can you blame Mick for sucking his dick?), Laibach, NIN (I have most of Trent's albums. Anything from Fragile and beyond sucks), BareNakedLadies (they can do no wrong), Crash Test Dummies, Weird Al, Pearl Jam (the first two albums, the rest suck), Foo Fighters, Nirvana (pre-mortem), George Gershwin, Oingo Boingo (The Knights of), Ludwig van Beethoven, Tori Amos (and, indirectly, Kate Bush), etc...
Christ. Uhm, The Star War Trilogy (pre-Jar Jar Binks), 300 (even though Frank Miller is a racist jingoist ass), American Beauty, Almost Famous, The Princess Bride, The Fog of War, Why We Fight, Alien, Aliens, Alien3, Alien: Resurrection, Amelie, Le Cite des Enfants Perdu, Trainspotting, Billy Wilder movies, Akira Kurosawa movies, Coen Brothers (Including, but not limited to, Raising Arizona, Fargo, O Brother Where Art Thou?), Fellini movies, some Stephen Spielberg (Indiana Jones), SLC Punk!, The Abyss, The Incredibles, Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Baz Luhrmann's Red Curtain Trilogy, Etc...
What's television?
I will say that I believe these are some of the best shows on television right now:
Curb Your Enthusiasm
The Daily Show with Jon Stewart
The Colbert Report with Stephen Colbert
The Venture Bros
Penn and Teller's Bullsh!t on showtime
eh, I don't watch too much TV
Okay, I've got a lot of books that I like reading, but mostly the books I read are about science, religion, and politics. I'm now reading Beowulf, not because of the movie which I will never see, but I like reading the modern translation with the Old English original. It blows my mind. I'm gonna grab "Misquoting Jesus" about how much of what we consider unchanging Biblical text is actual dynamic and changeable and has changed throughout the centuries, especially before Catholicism was standardized by Rome. I've got a book called "1421" about how China possibly discovered the new world before Columbus but a political crisis kept them from expansion. Looking forward to "Overthrow" by Stephen Zinder about the United States' active role in overthrowing democratically elected governments around the world. I wish it had more footnotes. One day I'll read the last Harry Potter that sitting on my shelf. I also thought I'd sprinkle in a litte Rimbaud, Baudelaire, Kipling to spice things up. Exciting stuff.
