Terry Mostyn:
Born November 20th 1952 in Jersey City NJ. Terry started singing at a young age with family at there weekly gatherings. Being of Irish/Welsh desent singing/music was a big part of this family. Terry's desire to be in music and to venture out to the music of what was on the radio,{Motown-accapella-R&B-Rock&Roll,The Beatles/English invasion etc. was inevitable, school bathrooms where full of all kinds of singers/groups using the acoustics {mid-60's}to hone there vocals and harmonies, more time singing than the 3 R's.
Singing in parks ,under bridges, hallways, anywhere there where good acoustics .Singing with some older guys gave Terry all the experience he needed ,his first big break came when he was asked to sing lead vocal with a Do-Wap act at a high school dance, being 14 the rest of the band was in there late teens {18-19}and the drummer was 21. After that night things changed and Terry started fronting different acts up and down the Jersey coast.
Such bands as Capt. Jacks Freak Show- Stone Feather- Fugue- Relay-Afterglow to name a few. Always wanting to be more than just a vocalist Terry started writing songs and playing instruments such as guitar,piano/keys, using these to help with his songwriting and making him more in tune to honing his craft as a singer/ songwriter. With strong lyrics and a beginning to the music Terry employed the help of ex-Jersey band mates
Najat Bakin{guitar} and Gary Shapiro{keys} from StoneFeather a cover band he fronted doing Deep Purple/Led Zepp? Allman Bros. around the Jersey shore in the early 70's. In a studio in NJ in1991 the song Way of the World was recorded and seven more songs to complete the album. The project never took off and the three went there seperate ways. Things changed for Terry as a move to up-state New York came in place . Putting music on hold to build a home and raise three children Terry and family enjoyed the country life but the urge to write, sing and play never left. Going back to his roots he started doing cover tunes from Celtic ,rock, oldies etc. As a soloist you can catch him in many of the up-state clubs working on his craft.Hooking back up with other band mates {his brothers} Don{guitar-Keys-mandolin-vocals} Ray {drums-bodhran-vocals} Kyndryd was formed-Celtic Rock- with the addition of Jon LaCriox on bass this band is sure to be a force on the Celtic rock seen. As always the support of his wife and kids keep this musician always moving forward.www.terrymostyn.com (Background By ni-photos.JMCWD.com)
