About Me

profile design by äRRiel/Rachie

Jo McCafferty is a singer/songwriter from Aberdeen, Scotland. After 4 acoustic albums and tours of the UK, Europe and America, some solo and some in support of some great artists, Jo decided to take some time out to write her first Band album. Some musicians go to tropical islands to find the sanctuary to do this, Jo built a house. The album has been written now and the house, a log cabin built by Jo personally, is finished and even connected up with broadband.Jo feels that building the house has given her time and solitude to work on the arrangements of her new band material as well as giving her an understanding of the finer points of carpentry. In the last few years Jo's been playing lots of gigs including gigs at Glasgow sharing a bill with Joe Walsh amongst others, gigs with recent top 10 UK band Marillion, a European Tour supporting a band made up of musicians from The Stone Roses/Ian Brown, XTC, Marillion, BBMak, amongst others.Throughout this time she's also played with Midge Ure, Glenn Tilbrook, Dresden Dolls , The Bluetones, the Grim Northern Social, John Young, David Kitts and had dates with Donnie Munro (Runrig) and Fish.Papercuts and Lime (released in 2004) was a breakthrough album in many ways garnering strong reviews and national radioplay for tracks such as Dangerous Ground. In the last year Jo has supported Live8 co-organiser Midge Ure on over 20 of his acoustic dates as well as supporting the Dresden Dolls , with a band comprising: Cellist Rachel Lind and The Boy Lacks Patience amongst others.A few months after that gig Jo was invited back with the band to headline the venue. Jo has been away from the live scene quietly working on new material for the past 6 months, pausing only a few times to join Midge Ure on a few more of his dates as special guest.Jo has now started recording Overtaking on a Bend, the first fully non-acoustic Jo McCafferty album, with the hope to see it released at some point towards the end of the year.Jo now regularly appears on the Not The Tommy Boyd Show on Sunday evenings from 7-10. You can listen by heading to PlayWebsite or even watch the webcams and listen at NTTBS.com .Jo's previous original albums Nothing Whispered to Katy, Radiaxial, The 8 Year Gap and Papercuts and Lime have been available through Jo's own label Neosome Music. Jo has also released Games for One (a best of with a specially designed cover by Mark Wilkinson, the artist responsible for the Darkness new album cover), and Live at the Moorings (a live album voted one of the best releases of the year on Get Ready to Rock.com website .All of Jo's music is released via her website , through her own label 'Neosome Music'.
