My Life Influences

Mama ku Tanin - My feisty : mother and my calm dad : !: : :

Being born in a loving, united and respected family, and having my : 4 brothers and 2 sisters as my best friends! The desolate village of Palonkon on the Island of Fogo, Cape Verde, where I was born and raised till the age of 14!:

Every singly stone, hill and valley of Palonkon
: The summer rains
The farming - tilling the land with a simple hoe - morning to sundown during
The rainy season
The hot wind storms of October
The : fetching of hay
The fetching of fire wood
The fetching of water with the mule under the scorching summer sun
The blue skies and the infinite horizon all about me
The morning sunrise on Pontu Artu
The mystical sunsets!
The pitch dark nights
The moonlit nights, sitting on the cistern by the house, listening to music
The mighty mountains surrounding my village

Learning about the existence of God at the age of 6
Learning that one day I would come to Merca (America)!
Coming to America (the unknown)
