WELCOMMMME ;o)Born January 18th 1986, Cheryse Nicol Pickens was destined to be a star..... Ok lets cut the crap here. My philosophy about this page is to present a hands on (with the invaluable help of Holly... lol my right hand, who most of you have corresponded with) unrefined, uncut and unpackaged image that this industry is so deathly afraid of ;o). I love people, I love good music, I HATE what's happened to this industry! They call me Chey.N and most artist write their own bios, so why pretend lol. As cliche as it sounds I have known my entire life that I was an entertainer. I started dancing when I could barley walk at 3 yrs old wobbling around in a tu-tu that was half my size lol. Dance is my first love I've been doing it professionally for about 18 yrs now (Holy Guacamole). I'm a real ham (if anyone still uses that word) and when I was about 6, and the bad ass I thought I was, I decided a family trip to FAO Schwarz would be muuuuuch better if I lost my mom and ran maniacally through the store by myself, good news... an Agent spotted me and thought "Wow, This Kids got talent!" bad news my mom also spotted me and subsequently made me where a "child leash" for the next 6-months on public outings. Ever since then I've done television (All my Children, Les Miserables, Nickelodeon, 20/20, Law &Order, Law&Order: Criminal Intent, Law&Order: Special Victims Unit, 4 Lane Highway etc etc) But singing is defiantly my passion. I got my first deal when I was 14 with Krizza Muzic at the height of the pop explosion and of course was swiftly molded into a tiny black version of Britney Spears, didn't fly so well with my mom who promptly negotiated me out of that deal and told me to put some damn clothes on. I danced for the next two years and when I was 16 and breakdancing and touring Philly I was approached by an A&R from another label called Whylde Chylde. Long story short financing was the demise of that situation but it was through that label that I learned not only how to be an artist but how to turn my poetry into song-writing. T-Money (Of "Yo Mtv Raps")and Ossie Gibson single handedly developed a "bad-rebellious-know-it-all" kid with talent into a viable artist and to them I am forever grateful. So here I am 5 years later and finally back in the game. I'm a Songwriter/Singer some ppl love my music, some ppl think that my lyrics aren't young enough, hell some ppl think my voice isn't "young enough" but bottom line I am young and if Gwen Stefani or Janet Jackson, or Madonna gave a rats ass what "Industry professionals" told them to change do or not do when they broke on to the scene... well us young bucks would have no formula to copy!! lol. Someone very wise once told me "Always go where the love is" and I am a firm believer of reaching out to ppl and letting them decide whether or not my music speaks to them, to let them decide if who I am appeals to them. Bcuz I'm tired of being force fed Pop/R&B or any music in general and I refuse to be another "One single, 2 album artist" Ok ok so theres my revolutionary crap. On the real I'm just a girl chasin dreams.. you down to ride??Stay flyyyyyy
