About Me

"Side By Side - Duets Vol. 1"
Currently featured in "What's Hot" on iTunes and the "Indie Spotight"
Award-winning artist AM has produced his first duets project "Side By Side - Duets Vol. 1". This is the first volume of duets in a 6 volume series AM is writing and producing. AM invited friends and fellow singer/songwriters to perform duets to bring his concept of "Side By Side - Duets Vol. 1" to life. Designer Jonathan Ady took AM's obsession with owls and created the album cover.
Songs include:
New Road : duet with AM and Meiko
Temporary One : duet with AM and Susie Suh
I'll Be Your Mirror : duet with AM and Julianna Raye
Hear Me Sing : duet with AM and Buddy
While My Guitar Gently Weeps : duet with AM and Tina Dico
A Part Of Something Missing : duet with AM and Rick Garcia
Bonus Songs available exclusively on iTunes

I'm touring right now--- if you'd like me to come play your city take a second to sign the mailing list. You can also let me know if you'd like to join the street team to help spread the word."Soul Variations" (AM's sophomore record) is a rich and musically varied album with political undertones heavily influenced by the effects Hurricane Katrina had on AM’s hometown of New Orleans, what the tragic event revealed about America, and perhaps of humanity in general. “Soul Variations” also offers AM’s signature songs of lost love such as "Stepping Stone" and "Live A Lie".
In his own words AM describes “Soul Variations”:
“’Soul Variations' has more of a political edge. But like many of my songs I don't think it has to be restricted to that. I try to write songs that can be applied to different situations so the listener can be free to interpret the songs and not be restricted by what I "intended." Many of the songs off the album could be about politics, but could also be about personal relationships. I've never really felt the two are that different. Business, politics and personal relationships all deal with the same fundamental qualities: love, passion, power and sometimes evil. I also feel this record has a much more communal vibe and more of a live feel. There are very little overdubs and the record has a lot of space. I did the whole thing on 2-inch tape so the analog nature of the recording gives it a much deeper and richer feel than my first record (Troubled Times). Musically I feel it has a lot more groove to it. I've been listening to a lot of jazz, R&B and Brazilian music over the last couple of years. I also produced this album myself so that was a great experience.”
When Gary Jules brought his PA to a little coffee shop in Hollywood... the scene at the Hotel Cafe began. AM is part of the Hotel Cafe contingency of singer/songwriters that first began playing at the Hotel Cafe... fast forward a few years to now....Movies and television shows are where you may have first heard AM's music--- ALL 10 songs from his debut album "Troubled Times" have been placed in over 38 projects some of which include HBO's "Big Love", ABC's "Men in Trees", MTV's "Real World", and ABC's "What About Brian"--this all happened before AM's cd hit U.S. record stores. Most recently "Troubled Times" was voted one of iTunes "Best Indie Albums of 2006."

QUOTES:
"With the lilting dreamy piano of Coldplay, and the mellow hooks of Wilco, and a moodiness reminiscent of Fleetwood Mac, AM has produced an album full of songs that are as welcoming as they are painstakingly crafted. Along the way, swirling electric piano gives way to delicate guitar arpeggios, plaintive vocals subtly roll along the backbone of rhythm into a place where thoughts are meant to be felt rather than ignored, and where purpose takes the place of apathy. There’s something pillowy about the expansive production on these songs, something about the incorporation of deep reverbs and slight residues of delay that leads to an overall feeling of cohesion for the entire project. Having already performed on KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic, and been named by iTunes as having the best indie album of 2006 (for his previous release, “Troubled Times”), it might behoove you to get to know him now... this record will be showing up on top 10 lists soon enough."- www.cdbaby.com
"...a strong sense of melody and song craft -Billboard
"AM takes equal parts of classic Americana, folk-rock and pop, and melts them down into something entirely his own, and he does it with two things money can't buy: imagination and taste. These sturdily built pop songs are graced with ingeniously colorful arrangements and have that 'instant classic' thing stamped all over them"
-John Payne, LA Weekly
"...AM writes literate, emotionally balanced tunes that are infectious without being moronic, hip without being oh so, and pop infected without losing their edge... he is a songwriter ready to be discovered by a wider audience, an audience interested in smart and sincere songs that speak to the vastness of the human spirit."
-Jedd Beoudoin, f5wichita
"A clear, expressive voice, meaningful lyrics, and a magical touch on the guitar equal some great songs, that are translated perfectly on AM’s new CD “Troubled Times” click to listen to him here, or catch him on his US tour now."
