WAIRARAPA, WELLINGTON, NEW ZEALAND, ROCK BAND.
TIGHT LIPPED was formed by BARRY SMITH,late 2005.
They are unsigned.
The original TIGHT LIPPED recorded a demo of ten songs,all written by BARRY and two, BARRY had recorded earlier, Mr jive and He Unfortunatly, apart from these two, the others were not of a high enough musical standard, to come up to the desired level that BARRY required, and he disbanded the band. BARRY has since re recorded two tracks Rosie,And Thank you for that

"chronology"
Well known in Wellington and throughout the NZ scene from 1967 -1980,
Barry was the frontman in a number of popular dance bands,amongst the
many some that caught attention were,
"THYME BLUES BAND" This band set a then NZ non stop playing [live] record of 48 hours non stop in Cartertons Parkvale hall 1967 8pm fri- 8pm sun.
The band went on to play in Australia in and around Sydney night clubs
for twelve months, entertaining American troops on leave from combat duty
in Vietnam, rock n roll heaven.BARRY returned to NZ and formed.
"NATURAL GAS" Pro band which performed in clubs [THE PLACE] LUCIFERS,
home of the wellington underground scene, pubs, festivals, concerts.
The band recorded a single COME ON DOWN GIRL,which was banned by the
NZBC for suggestive lyrics,[no not written by BARRY] it was an obscure cover produced none other than by PETER DAWKINS.
The band won the wellington section of the battle of the bands,
BARRY missed out in the Auckland finals to ROB GUEST, INBETWEENS,
who went on to take the lead roll in PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, Australia.
"ELECTRIC CIRCUS" Originals band playing the Wellington underground scene and varsity gigs, DARRYL JACOBS drums, went on to FRESH AIR,
played in australia CHRIS GUN ,bass SALTY DOG,NZ Pop band.
"BIG JUMP BAND" Pub, club, concert band [covers] band included ex
members of Wellingtons QUINCY CONSERVE. BARRY BROWNSHARPE KEN PEARSON ON BASS.
Through this era BARRY had the pleasure to sing alongside, jam, and perform with
the leading lights,as far as bands and musicians were concerned, in NZ.
Make no mistake the following musicians and bands were the change in musical direction that has produced such great NZ bands today,in BARRYS eyes.special mention JOHNNY DEVLIN 1950S

RED EYE, TOM THUMB,THE 1860 BAND.Most of these artists and bands,played on a regular basis in Wellington.
They all had one thing in common,they were all very, very, good.BARRY recons the level that a lot of these guys were playing at then was huge, he can remember sitting in THE OROCLE WELLINGTON NIGHT CLUB, went on to be LUCIFERS he was seventeen or eighteen a three pce band JOYFUL CRY blew him away,HENDRIX TO THE MAX wicked players. Vocalists PHIL KEYS ,LA DE DAS, BRUCE SONGDEN, TOM THUMB, BRUCE was the man who most inspired me,wicked vocalist huge projection, and range.
BARRY, exited stage and went thoroughbred horse training,and farming
for twenty odd years.During this time he relocated to the Wairarapa.
One night late in late 1999 BARRY spotted an add for the Wairarapa music club, got hooked,started singing and taught himself rhythm guitar and.
"THE HU HU BUGS" a collection of Wairarapa musicians who write and record original music.
"THREE WAYS FROM SUNDAY" Originals and covers band,BARRY founded,
ROBBIE KEATING on drums.
"TIGHTLIPPED" Has had a number of line up changes,time moves on, and so do musicians, for one reason or another.
"TIGHTLIPPED" Is a three piece band band who use depending on venue or size, a session lead guitarist, and or keyboard player.
BARRY AND ROBBIE also play as a duo [ie] small bars and cafes where volume is an issue.The band play from an extensive covers list of classic
covers from the BEATLES -JACK JOHNSON, and can play full sets of original material they write which they are fast becoming known for by their growing band of supporters.
"ROBBIE KEATING" Bassist, guitar,drums,vocals,keyboards.
ROBBIE, did six years on a tops course,we came to play,played ten years on a pro basis,three years tutoring,gained a diploma in music WHITIREIA,
level five grade royal school of music.
Toured Australia with band dub congress,for three months,and has played and toured all of NZ.He has performed jammed and backed the following NZ artists. SOUTHSIDE OF BOMBAY,CLOUD NINE, HERBS, TAMA RENATA,
EMA PAKI, FRANKIE STEVENS,and with BARRY in THREE WAYS FROM SUNDAY.Robbie is your muso to die for, exellent exponent of bass ,drums and good good vocalist lead or harmony ,ROB n BAZZ are on fire in this field.
"STEVE ROWE" Is our new drummer from the now disbanded wairarapa band THE ROADSTERZ,STEVE, is a real asset to the band and also sings well.
HEY,Its taken a bit to weed the garden, all good now.
