Amplifier's Top 20 Releases for 2007
17.12.07
For the 2nd year in a row Amplifier staff have sat down, thrown aside their personal preference for electro polka house, and chosen their Top 20 kiwi releases of 2007. This year we decided to include a select group of industry insiders, media commentators, music reviewers and a designated driver to help with our selection process.
On a rainy summers evening we gathered in Amplifier towers with liquid refreshments and a pile of CDs.. the quest for the best had begun.
After much debate, bickering and some fighting the following 20 releases are those whom the assembled felt were the best releases for the year:
1 Tiki - Past, Present, Future (Dirty Dub)
2 SJD - Songs from a Dictaphone (Round Trip Mars)
3 The Phoenix Foundation - Happy Ending (Warner Music)
4 Motocade - Into The Fall (Indpendent)
5 The Brunettes - Structure & Cosmetics (Lil' Chief)
6 The Sneaks - The Sneaks (Independent)
7 Batucada Sound Machine - Rhythm & Rhyme (Independent)
8 Tim Guy - Hummabyes (Monkey Records)
9 Surf City - Surf City EP (Arch Hill)
10 The L.E.D.S - ...we are the L.e.d.s (Independent)

dDub - Hesitate No
Hesitate No - a soaring rich love song with dynamic punch and a passionate melody. The chorus is infectious and smooth. 'Hesitate No' immediately involves you in it's journey, dumps you into a surprising breakdown, then lifts you back up with Derek Browne's warm vocals.
You can catch the dDub crew doing what they do best, hitting the summer beaches, touring our beautiful country, performing cranking live shows. From Whangamata to Christchurch, taking Rhythm and Vines and Parihaka in their stride.
Cyphanetik - Till My Death
From the infamous Bee Dub Studio comes It's A Monster!!, the second compilation from the Breakin' Wreckwordz hip hop label featuring Till My Death the latest video from Cyphanetik.
