They have been making music together since 2000 and are currently based in the Auckland region of New Zealand.Christian McLay (aka Madsickill) is the head producer/band leader of the group. Stepping up as lead vocalist, he also plays keyboards and guitar along with other instruments that are incorporated into his unique beats and Retainers live shows.
Chris has worked with a variety of artists with different styles to date including Rhombus, Commodores member Ronald LePread, Kaya, N.T.D. and many more.Jeremy Hunt holds down the Bass and has a hand in creating some of the tracks for The Retainers. Having played in bands and producing beats for over ten years J. returned to New Zealand at the beginning of 2006, after living in London and travelling in Europe and Peru, to hook up with cousin Chris to develop the pairs ideas for dubbed out, funky, innovative rhythms.2008 brings a bit of change with Guitarist Karl Smith coming in to help build the rhythm section..
