Composer and musicologist born in Livorno (Italy) in 1967. Graduated in classical guitar with Flavio Cucchi in 1991. From 1988 to 1993 member of Guitar Symphonietta under the direction of Leo Brouwer. Graduated in Philosophy with Aldo Gargani at the University of Pisa (dissertation on Morton Feldman’s musical aesthetics). Largely self-taught as a composer, attended composition seminars held by Leo Brouwer and Aldo Clementi in Florence during the years 1990-91 and Darmstadt Ferienkurse in 1994. Compositions recorded by Cinevox for RAI and performed by musicians such as pianists Giancarlo Cardini and Velia De Vita, soprano Jana Mrazova and ensembles EST and Arsenale in various contemporary music festivals (Rome IUC, Florence G.A.M.O., Reggio Emilia ‘Compositori a confronto’ etc.) and for various institutions such as Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa and Accademia Filarmonica of Bologna. Collaborations as performer and producer with rock musicians Virginiana Miller, Egon, Hollowblue and Luca Faggella. Musicological studies on contemporary music and abstract painting published in various magazines and books: ‘Musica/Realtà ’, ‘MusikTexte’, ‘Nuova civiltà delle macchine’, ‘Tetraktýs’, ‘Quaderni di Octandre’, ‘Continuum’ among others. ‘Open form, chance and indetermination’, item for Umberto Eco’s 'The great history of european civilisation'. First italian traslation of all essays by Morton Feldman for IBIMUS.
