dyko is one of the busiest independent german bands in the international arena. within the past year alone they have played over 40 concerts in russia, austria, switzerland, israel, spain, serbia, australia, singapore, china, ireland, turkey, belarus, the netherlands and norway.
their song “elektro leiber†will be released worldwide in april 2008 on the “bar berlin†compilation by the nascente label in london. dyko have also done a remix for the pinker tones song “pink freud†for their album “more coloursâ€.
dyko is two connected musicians, sharing a common goal they uncompromisingly pursue. modelled on the bauhaus concept of the "artist as a technician", they reflect their fascination with german everyday life culture in songs such as "elektro leiber", "in ordnung" "rollerdisco" and "wellenanlage" and have also artistically processed german language videos from the 70’s. this is further enhanced live by the use of a screen showing abstract graphics and hyper-realistic visuals.
john from melbourne/australia and christofer from frankfurt/germany are devoted to synthi-pop and new wave and are profoundly and lastingly inspired by bands/artists such as kraftwerk, the human league, david bowie, depeche mode and iggy pop. they have enjoyed the support of michael wolff, producer of german icon/singer nina hagen.
the music of dyko has inspired wolfgang flür (ex-kraftwerk) to pick up his sticks and play e-drums live for the first time since kraftwerk. the occassional joint shows with wolfgang are both an honour and a pleasure. dyko + wolfgang have recently included a live version of the kraftwerk classic “autobahn†into their live set. wolfgang hadn’t played this song since the early eighties. apart from live collaborations dyko and wolfgang are currently working on a joint studio production.
dyko see themselves as german electronic cultural ambassadors. a mini world tour took place from june-nov 2007 which included a 4 week australian concert/cultural discussion and workshops tour for the goethe institut. in october 2007 dyko did 4 shows in china at the nanjing pop festival where top german bands juli, mia, tele +2raumwohnung appeared. apart from being established in the rhine-main area of germany, dyko's travels have taken them to cape town (on two occassions), stockholm, the b2 club in moscow, club 103 + maria in berlin, icke micki in vienna, exit festival in serbia (largest festivel in eastern europe), rote fabrik zürich, tel aviv, home club in singapore, club bon bon in shanghai, the bank club in beijing, radio city in dublin and club maiden norway. dyko are doing a north american, belarus, turkish and european tours for the goethe institut in 2008.
as an electronic act dyko are proud to be sponsored by roland musical instruments, edirol, sennheiser and fischer amps.
the tv stations hr, ard, wdr, atv and rmtv and radio stations radio maximum moscow, sbs, hr radio + you fm have done extensive interviews with dyko.
