Sounds Like: AudioVision - VISUAL MUSIC
His songs have become legends of Electro: Karl Bartos is the co-author behind KW classics like Computer World, The Robots and The Model. He conceived icons like Neon Lights, The Telephone Call and Tour de France. An undisputed master of original Electro sound his solo work thrives on musical concepts others have so often tried to imitate. Just listen to TV, 15 Minutes of Fame or Im the Message.
His current project AudioVision adds a new dimension. Experience Electro come to life in a performance of the actual creation of music usually confined to pre-programmed reproduction.
Karl Bartos performs as lead singer and keyboarder - he demontstrates the emotion of sound.
AUDIO
Watch engineer and technical director Mathias Black while he is creating the head-on blasting live sound on the left side of the stage. In his sound studio - the so called Klang Regie - he is processing and mixing pre-arranged tracks with real time-material. Black is also lending his voice to the vocoder, another essential element of Karl Bartos art. Blacks vocoder tracks add their distinctive language and perspective to the performance of AudioVision.
VISUALS
On the right side of the stage visual artist Robert Baumanns has set up his mobile TV studio - the Bild Regie. Baumanns is a virtuoso of image real time processing and mixing. Through an electronic triptych of three large screens you can participate in the act of creation: Films, video loops and animated pictograms blend and morph mirroring the surrealistic flow of information within our media. Intertwining visuals and music, AudioVision has roots in the classic forms of cinema as well as media art and clubbing culture.
Karl: Our concerts are multi-sensory experiences, but if you close your eyes you might see your own genuine movie. While recordings invariably define a one way communication channel live gigs are, of course, two way interactions with the audience. The act of people sharing a particular spot in time and space makes each live concert unique. That means a lot to me, because it reminds us that everything, however valuable, must pass.
