A Few Items
I compose music.
(That pretty much sums it up, but I’ll add some details.)
My background is Classical. (To me, Mozart is soul music.) I’ve never stopped composing in that genre and right now I have about 70 completed pieces. I sometimes compose by hand (my right hand if you’re interested) and other times on the computer – it works either way for me. My studio (and it is a killer studio) rests at the foot of some lovely hills north of Los Angeles. For producing music I use Digital Performer;
for notation I use Finale and Sibelius.
There's a complete cache of demos on my website.
BIG CACHE OF DEMOS
(You'll need to scroll down a bit.)
I’ve composed quite a bit of film music and scores of TV episodes (yes, it was a pun) – I love the work and I’m always looking for more. My music has been placed in over 20 films including Reservoir Dogs, Night Falls on Manhattan, Naked Gun 2 1/2, She Devil, Seven, and All the Right Moves. I couldn’t begin to count the radio and TV commercials.
I also work as an orchestrator (love the activity) and an arranger (love that too). I’ve arranged or orchestrated for Chicago (great gig, love the band!), Quincy Jones, Barbra Streisand, Whitney Houston, Elmer Bernstein, Bright Eyes (another great gig, another great band!), Mike Post, Ann-Margret and … oh trust me, it’s a long, long list. There's a full resume on my website:

When it comes to writing music, I’m like a drunkard with a case of whiskey – can’t stop and don’t want to. Now, it’s true that when I sit down (and I do sit while composing) and just write – no gig, no assignment – it’s definitely Classical. But the thing is, I love music and I love writing music. Any kind of music for any kind of situation. Underscoring, arranging, orchestrating, anything. I suppose I could come up with many valid reasons why I do this with my life but, honestly, the basic reason is simple:
it’s just so much damn fun!
