About Me
Vocalist. She starts to study jazz music in 1995 in Palermo (Italy), her own town, in a private jazz music school (Scuola Musica Insieme). Main teachers Loredana Spata and Mimmo Cafiero. During that period she has the possibility to follow basic jazz theory and harmony courses, solfege, vocal technique, repertoire, ensemble performance. Through the music school she also has the opportunity to attend many interesting workshops with great musicians as Mark Marphy, Norma Winstone, John Taylor, Sheila Jordan, Rachel Gould and many others. In the meantime she starts to perform with her own projects and collaborate with other musicians groups (Madrugada sextet, Open Jazz Orchestra, Duke Ellington’s Singers, Open Jazz Vocal Band, Vincenzo Palermo brasilian project etc.). In 1996, during “Umbriajazz†clinics, she wins a scholarship to study at Berklee College of Music in Boston. In 1998 she moves in Bologna and she lives there for a couple of years getting into the musical scene also over there. Then, in 2002, she decides to start her studies at the “Prins Claus Conservatorium†in Groningen, so she moves to Holland where she graduates in 2006. During these four years she could improve her jazz music knowledge studing with american teachers as Dena Derose, Conrad Herwig, Brian Lynch, David Berkman, Don Braden, Ralph Peterson etc. and she got in contact with many other musicians from all over Europe, Asia, Arabic world.
