Born in Sofia, Bulgaria 07.09.1979.Started plying drums at the age 14. Private lessons for 2 years with a local teacher. 1998 - a member of bulgarian pop-rock band,"Slang". Debut album in 1999. Two number one hits in the national chart, toured the country and numerous Radio broadcasts, TV and Festival appereances.
2000 - together with fellow musicians formed an experimental fusion band ("BRAINSTORM"), that combined bulgarian(balkan) traditional music with jazz, funk etc. Featured the bulgarian musicians: Yordan Yonchev (Gumzata) on trumpet and Dimitar Liolev on saxophone. Many Radio and TV broadcasts and festivals across Bulgaria.
2002 - moved to Holland, to study full time in the Jazz Conservatory in Groningen, under the mentorship of N.Y. drummers Ralph Peterson, and Owen Hart Jr . The school had a program of regular guest teachers from U.S.A. such as David Berkman, Conrad Herwig, Brian Lynch, Don Braden, Steve Davis, Dena DeRose.
2002 - together with saxophonist Dimitar Liolev, formed another experimental folk-jazz band, called "RAKIA".The band made it to the finals of The Dutch Jazz Competition 2004 and performed at The North Sea Jazz Festival the same year.
2003 - joined a local big band from Groningen, the STAGE BAND, coached by trombone player - Jeroen Roll. The Big Band won 1st Prices at 2 national big band Contests - in Enschede (2004) and in Hofdorp twice (2006 and 2007). Performed with dutch jazz luminaries, such as Fay Classen , Benjamin Herman, Izaline Calister, Martin Fondze, Allard Buwalda, Henry Gerrits, Bert Boeren, Wim Both, Hank Meutgeerd etc. Released their debut album - "Coming About" in June 2007.
In 2006 - joined a world music band, founded by percussionist Sjahin During TARHANA.It's an internanational band that combines balkan and oriental music with all kinds of contemporary flavours - jazz, afro-carribean music, funk, electronics etc. Succesful tours in the Middle East (Jordan,Syria,Lebanon)and North-Africa(Tunesia) and India. Appearences in all the major world-music festivals and venues in Holland.
Tarhana will release their debut album at the beginning of 2008
September 2006 - taking masters at the Amsterdam Conservatory, majoring big-band and afro-cuban drumming, under the guidance of premier dutch drummers - Martjin Vink and Lucas van Merwijk.
