Dimitar Liolev(Mitko)

Dimitar was born on the 7th of January,1973 in Bulgaria. Hi studied fagot and piano at the Music High school in Plovdiv,Bulgaria. Later,playing Jazz saxophone took over.In Sofia he had the possibility to perform as a leader or a sideman in jazz clubs,and festivals. Since 2002 he was admitted in North Netherland Conservatory. Hi studied and finished the program"New York comes to Groningen" with Ralph Peterson(drums),Don Braden(sax),David Berckman(piano) Joris Teepe(bass),Conrad Herwig(trombone),Brian Lynch(trompet) Dena De Rose(vocal)... In 2004 he made it to the finals of the Dutch Jazz Competition with his own band “Rakia” and he performed at the North See Jazz Festival. In 2005 he won the second prize of a jazz solist in Leidse Stad Jazz Competition in Leiden.He has been nominated for the Harten Aas Jazz Award 2005.
