Hi, I'm Alexander Lekov from Plovdiv, Bulgaria. I was born on 17th February 1982. I started playing the piano at the age of four. Some years later in school (the Music school in Plovdiv) I started playing the clarinet too and that was the time I was introduced to the classical music which helped me a lot to develop as a musician. When I was 15 I was so influenced by the soul and funk of the 60s and 70s that I decided to learn to play another instrument- the bass. Since than I spend most of my time playing the bass guitar and the double bass. In 2007 I graduated from the Music Academy "Pancho Vladigerov" in Sofia- my major was bass guitar and double bass. I had the opportunity to record and to play with some of the greatest musicians in Bulgaria- Shibil Benev, Milcho Leviev, Hristo Yotzov, Anthony Donchev, Ivo Vakavliev, Stefan Kojuharov, Petar Momchev, Dimitar Dimitrov, Asen Doikin,Theodosii Spassov, Yildiz Ibrahimova, Veselin Koychev, Jazz Line, White Green and Red and others. I have also played on jam sessions with the Brazilian percussionist Airto Moreira, with the great drummer Steve Ferrone. I have played the bass on some records for the Bulgarian National Radio, the Bulgarian National TV. I have recorded for many jazz, rock and pop artists as well.
